Shooting at French Satirical Magazine

Loads of protests against these killings taking place tonight in French cities, where typically French Muslims live. I think there's going to be quite a lot of trouble tonight.

Islam should be banned, their book is disgusting and all it achieves is brainwashing more innocent children into a life of useless rules and worshiping a fictional pedophile.

Indeed. But can we ban Christianity at the same time?

Deut. 5:7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

Deut. 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth.

Penalty: For breaking these first two commandments, the Alleged Xian Deity (AXD) promises dire consequences for three or four generations of your descendents.

Lev. 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

Ex. 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.

Lev. 20:9 For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.

Lev. 20:10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

Those are terrible rules to follow, right?

Judging by their proficiency with the weapons it is very likely they have had training at some point.
If indeed they have returned to France from Middle East war zones with weapons, ammo and intent, then steps MUST be taken by EU governments to stop this from re-occurring

When will people learn. Religion is the root of all evil. Even if there is a God wtf does religion have to be such a thing. If you believe in God fine. But you shouldnt have to pray, you shouldnt have to read a book about it.

I have never ever ever understood what good religion does. Crazy, absolutely mental.

If religion is the root of all evil how do you explain the evil in the world committed by those of no religion?

Thats a very silly comment? considering no religion condones the killing of innocents.

I'll caveat this by being open in saying I'm not particularly religious, nor an expert on terrorism, religion or nationalism so I speak with no weight to my words than other than as a uninformed "average bloke".

Firstly it would be remiss of me to not say my thoughts and condolences are with the victims, their families and the people effected by this shameful act, in France and those globally who will inevitably suffer from the backlash. I dare say Muslims around the world are sat with their hands in their heads right now despairing and angry that these "people" could do this in their name and try to alienate them from friends, colleagues and neighbours.

I can see and understand how an immediate response to this atrocity would be "OMG Islam again", and let's be honest Islamic leaders have done very little to build bridges and repair that perception over the last few years.

Having said that to look at this act of barbarism and paint all Muslims with the same brush would be akin to painting all Christians or at least Catholics as responsible for the acts of brutal mass murder carried out by the catholic based Irish republican army in Britain in the 60's, 70's and 80's. These acts of terrorism arguably exceed anything carried out by Islamic extremists in the UK and yet despite some generalisations about "the Irish" few people cried out that all Christianity should be held responsible. It's an understandable reaction of immediate anger to lash out, particularly when it's easy to point at something you don't wholly understand and generalise, but I think we all know when we take a breath it just doesn't stack up in the cold light of day.

Having said that, fairly or not, the Islamic community and leaders have a responsibility to take a response into their own hands, condemn the actions of these extremists and be categoric in their rejection of their means and actions. A clear statement form the Islamic community leaders around the world saying these barbaric individuals will get no succour or safe harbour from any genuine Muslim, Islamic state or organisation would go a long way to build the bridges between communities that we are all, Muslim, Christian, Agnostic anything else, of the same mind in rejecting these acts of terrorism carried out in the name of religion.

Perhaps a Fatwa issued ruling these terrorists act in defiance to the teachings of Islam and the prophet would be a reasonable start - they may continue to be nutters with an agenda but take away their desperately needed justification of creditability as defenders of Islam? At this point my sadly lacking knowledge of Islam lets me down so I don't know if that could even be possible. I suppose the Catholic equivalent would have been excommunication, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will be able to say more on that point.

Hopefully I've not offended anyone on what is a very emotive and raw subject, I just thought I'd add my 2c...

Bring back the guillotine France, no need for these idiots to go into a holiday camp once they are caught.

Not sure where you get your facts from but many, many, many times have Islamic leaders condemned acts of terrorism these acts are Islamic after all. Just do a quick Google.... You just won't see it on the front page of daily mail.

Just to give you example:

France's Muslim leadership sharply condemned the shooting as a "barbaric" attack and an assault on press freedom and democracy.

"This extremely grave barbaric action is also an attack against democracy and the freedom of the press," the French Muslim Council (CFCM) said in a statement.

The body represents France's Muslim community, which is Europe's biggest and estimated to number between 3.5 million and five million people.
