Looking to upgrade my HD6950 (Accidentally ordered a GPU too big!)

Kfa2 is just a daft name. But then so is galax! Its like they couldn't be bothered to think of a decent name. Guessing they have copywrite issues with galaxy over here but still...both names are rubbish lol

But yea, good decision. Best 970 whatever its called and the only one built around minimising coil whine. Stock boost on mine is 1385 but clocked straight in at 1475 with no additional voltage. Should manage 1500 i think. Great card!

Same company....

Why are you so upset?

Yeah but if the name GALAX is now not being used and its on the card then WTF? Its like MSI changing their name to SIM, you dont really wanna hold on to a card with a brand thats changed name, well i wouldnt.

The company needs to give its a head a wobble, its all over the place i though GALAX was the union of both names for world wide use now?

They already changed their name once recently, so i guess you wouldnt have bought it anyway? For all you know it's just as mistake on the website. cant find anything on the net to suggest they've changed it back.

Anyway, I'm quite happy with the card thanks :D

I have one more question, guys.

Is there anything i need to do because im switching from an AMD card to NVIDIA? aside from uninstalling the AMD drivers. (Do i do that before or after i change cards?)

Or the easier option, just install the NVIDIA drivers. My PC has both installed at the moment. :p

...

Personally I'd simply do this:

Clean case with compressor / air duster / hoover ---> install GTX 970 with blower cooler ---> run DDU (stands for display driver uninstaller, it's free, search for "ddu") ---> install drivers that come with the 970 and update when prompted ---> enjoy.

Literally 15 mins work and your upgrade is complete.

Enjoy :)

:)

(Sorry. Lazy.)

Yeah um, don't clean out your PC with a hoover!!!

The 970 he bought doesn't have a blower does it..?

DDU works but I personally wouldn't bother, its not like the AMD driver remnants will do anything. :p

Don't use the drivers that come with the 970, download the latest ones from the website directly.

Honestly...

Sorry. Shouldn't have quoted.

Don't use a hoover (or even a Dyson), but some canned air is a good bet. Personally, I would use DDU after uninstalling the AMD drivers. It only takes a couple of minutes. Whether the card has a blower or not is irrelevent. The install process is the same.

All the canned air on a certain AMAZONIAN WEBSITE has terrible reviews. Is it actually expensive to buy good canned air?
