Cyclist crash 'joke' tweeter sacked from stockbrokers

Douchebag posts douchey tweet.

Above a certain level I think that employers can reasonably hold employees accountable for this kind of rubbish but, in general, I think employers should not be able to impose their standards on employees. Unless the employee in question represented themselves as representing the company I think this kind of stuff shouldn't be grounds for dismissal.

So, while I think the guy is a tool, I think he shouldn't have lost his job and I think he should have grounds to sue the company.

Frankie Boyle tried your way of thinking...

You can't just going around saying stuff is risqué humour or 'for the bants' as a get out of jail free card!

Maybe you should look into your employee contract, we have a social media policy and a conduct out of work section as will any employer these days.

I don't have a contract lol.

They are stockbrokers....

Hargreaves Lansdowne are stockbrokers, platform operators, SIPP, GIA and ISA administrators and pension scheme operators, financial advisers and one of the fastest growing financial services businesses over the past 15 years.

I'm a cyclist, whose been knocked off by errant car drivers and I think it was a little extreme to sack him. I would have made him the dogs body of the office, or made him take a financial penalty. I find the idea of being responsible for your organisation 24/7/365 really upsetting and annoying, sadly in medicine its a way of life.

And its interesting how people think tax is segregated to the road. Last time I checked we have a vehicle emissions tax which is paid depending on how polluting a car is roughly. It helps offset the environmental damage and also the cost to the NHS of all the health costs and obesity caused by cars and the excessive road wear they cause over bikes.
