Shooting at French Satirical Magazine

I respect that but it doesn't change the fact that they did this because they are Muslims.

Please just stop, you're labelling these guys the same as millions of people who would never commit such atrocities. You're spouting ethno-religious hate.

The carrier here is the name of Islam, but it's not about Islam it's not about anything other than megalomania and power, and intimidation. They're just using Islam as a catalyst for it.

zoomee is that you? I bet your a converted muslim ;)

Has terrorism increased since the war on terror started?

I doubt it, I think it's just that the nature of it has changed.

It's also quite a convenient tool for the government to use to bring in anti-liberty legislation, and as such gets more media time, but I also think it's just the media driven age we're in now means it's much more accessible, readily available and forced upon us more.

Suicide attacks have been around throughout history for example.

ever told a ginger joke? you're gonna get pinged by a ginger now.

a ginger sleeping bear.

you brought this on yourself.

Hardly a comparison. We're talking about fanatics who are willing to blow themselves up in the name of their prophets. Making jokes about said prophets is obviously taking unnecessary risks.

I aint saying that it is a justified response, but it's not without provocation.

You can mock Judaism all you like. But Jews are an ethnic group, which is where you fall foul of the law.

The only way to be a Jew is to have a Jewish mother to my knowledge. Ethnicity is irrelevant you can be from a multitude of ethnic groups.

I am with the people on here who abhor religion in all its forms and I look forward to an enlightened age when it is as important as the magic circle to daily life. I will not be here then, and certainly not sitting on a cloud with or without a complement of virgins.

Offense intended if you want to be.

Exactly, I was going to give my next door neighbour the thumbs up sign earlier when he asked if I was ok but I quickly stopped myself just in case someone in Turkey, a mere 2500 mile away, got offended by my gesture. Couldn't have that could I!

Saw this... i took it tongue in cheek, but it does make you think...

The Muslims are not happy...

They are not happy in Gaza
They are not happy in Egypt
They are not happy in Libya
They are not happy in Morocco
They are not happy in Iran
They are not happy in Iraq
They are not happy in Yemen
They are not happy in Afghanistan
They are not happy in Pakistan
They are not happy in Libya
They are not happy in Syria…

So where are they happy?

They are happy in Australia
They are happy in Canada
They are happy in England
They are happy in France
They are happy in Italy
They are happy in Germany
They are happy in Sweden
They are happy in the USA
They are happy in Norway
They are happy in Holland
They are happy in Denmark..

Basically they are happy in every country that isn’t Muslim and unhappy in every country that is…

Who do they blame?

Not Islam
Not their leadership
Not themselves…

They blame the countries they are happy in and want to change them countries to be like the ones that are unhappy in…

They won't, a Muslim women has just said on Sky, why should she apologise for the actions of others.

And this is the problem, the penny hasn't dropped with Muslims in general that silence = support to a vast majority of people, including me. Everyone isn't asking for an 'apology' they are asking for denouncement.

The fact they are so apathetic about picking up a protest signs saying "Not in our name" when they are as fast as lightening to do the same when someone offends them speaks volumes and volumes.

Nah this one is mostly about religion, killing people for insulting the prophet pre-dates ISIS, al-quaeda etc... Look at Rushdie (attempts) and his translators being killed/attempted killings.

Some other attacks can perhaps be a mix of motivations but the key one here is Islam and it has it's base in something that isn't necessarily an extreme belief.

Charlie Hebdo Attack

The Muslim Council of Britain condemns this attack. Whomever the attackers are, and whatever the cause may be, nothing justifies the taking of life.

F me. Do people not even do the quickest of internet searches before stating something that they've just pulled out of their arse as fact?

What we need is for Muslims to accept that criticism of their religion is not about them but just about trying to point out the problems that lie therein.

If they could accept an Islamic style version of Father Ted it would be a start. Father Ted was fun comedy but the really golden moments where those that where missed by those who didn't understand the faith that was being satirised.
