NVIDIA clearly don't think so. Even if they don't offer much performance wise over the card they replace (760), then smaller die will save NVIDIA money - and you can't carry on selling an already 18 month old card forever.

2 gig of vRAM....says it all really. Not even mid ragne that, I'd say that was higher budget to mid range level
 
2 gb of VRAM is fine for 1080p.

Which I'd argue is still the target market for mid range cards. Yes there are exceptions where 2Gb isn't enough - e.g. Shadows of Mordor, but no one forces you to play with "Ultra" textures or whatever.

Can't view Steam at work, but last time I checked 1080P was still the dominant market.

There is always the possibility that a manufacturer will release a 4Gb model though.
