GTX 960 pictured !!!

Yes there are exceptions where 2Gb isn't enough - e.g. Shadows of Mordor, but no one forces you to play with "Ultra" textures or whatever.

Yeah but maybe people want to though...or heavily mod Skyrim.

People still on about 2gb lol.

When consoles now have 8GB unified memory, what makes you think it's not a genuine concern? You think 2GB will be enough for 1080p for the next couple years? If not, how long do you give these cards before they're obsolete/useless at 1080p?

Then buy a different card.

These cards will sell by the bucketload.

Mostly because in the main people impulse buy and have no idea whether what they're getting is any good. Or they stick to brands they know.

The idea that things that sell well are good products is why there are so many **** poor products on the market, in all walks of life.

If you base your purchase decisions on what is popular, you'll buy some right turkeys.

I agree.

If you're clued up enough, and think this card isn't right for you, then buy another that is. Loads of people will buy the 960 and be content with their purchase. It will probably also be bundled with loads of OEMs.

I do think that 2GB is going to be an issue simply for the multi-platform games which will be poorly optimised for memory. Also I can't think of the last time I upgraded and didn't get increased memory as part of the package.

X1600PRO - 256MB
8800GTS - 320MB
HD4870 - 512MB
GTX460 - 1GB
HD7870 - 2GB

Still I guess the only way we'll truly know is when we get real benchmarks, and comparisons to the R9 280 will be especially interesting given that the 960 would be expected to beat it in everything.

You have no idea how a business model works.

These cards will sell by the truckload, I reckon most retailers will struggle to keep up with demand.

For people who game at 1080p and don't expect the same levels of performance that the average GPU forum reader does, this is ample. For those who can't afford a 970, this is plenty.

Like it or not, Nvidia will make cash on these cards faster than they can spend it. That's a success.

The comparison of the 960 to the 280/285 is a problem, as both amd cards run at 150-200 mhz below their average true capability on the core. The 200mhz overclock equates to 8-12 fps at 1080p.

Personally I don't like the look of what MSI is putting out nowadays.

They topped out with the Twin Frozr III and Twin Frozr IV (though not in red).

You can go back to arguing over 2GB cards now.

I reckon the 960ti will be the 4gb version, I predict a release date around March. Can someone remind me if I'm right so I can brag about it please?

I really hope the 960 turns out to be the new 460, and overclock 25%+ without even breaking into a sweat. If nothing else it'll be nice to give AMD a reason to make an effort in the mid-range.

I think the 960 will definitely be an excellent overclocker going by the Maxwell cards below it in the line up.

The 4GB 960 should be so close to the 970, it will be interesting to see how they price it.

I doubt there will be a 4Gb 960. Nvidia need a way to distinguish it from it's bigger brothers.

Still if these cards sell for under £200 they will be a fantastic budget card. (£160-£180)
