I believe this was an exploit that was fixed, as you could obviously buy an A7 shield generator or something, for 50Mil, then sell it for 5 million profit in the next system, I think some people were hammering this so it got fixed - but feel free to try it and let us know :D
 
Tried it 2 days ago - Didn't work :P

But yep - Still a 10% decrease in prices, also my insurance is 10% below what it should be for my current ship, which is nice :)
 
Now I've gotten to the rank of Midshipman, all I'm getting offered by the Federation is those damn Black Ops missions. I thought the game gave you the option to advance in different ways? Do I really need to do this combat mission to progress any further?

I could spend pretty much all the credits I have for a Rail Gun to replace my Pulse laser, but I'm not convinced my puny little Hauler has a chance :(
 
Running 40t and a 25/20 jump range in the cobra trading atm,but i think i need a break to go pew pew things.
Best way to kit it out? (Have about 3 mill cr currently).
 
Well I caved and installed the Slopey trading tool, certainly seeing more profits but I think the area I'm in just isn't very fruitful. I was still making much more money bounty hunting in a stock Freagle so may switch back to that. Not far from affording a Cobra finally.

Fully sorted Cobra will set you back around 9 mill but 3 is enough

2x Gimballed mark 2 beams set you back a million
2x Gimballed mark 1 chainguns cheap as chips
A rated mark 4 power plant

then spend rest on thrusters shields and shield cells
 
Just brought this and downloaded the launcher but when i click to install the game in the launcher it starts to sync then says unable to find a certain file and the launcher 'stops working?'

Shall i remove it all and try again? Or is this a known issue?

Not too sure if it's classed as decent, but my Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X has been dispatched today from the Rain Forest. Has been on back order with stock due in today and it appears that they are again as they're now due back in stock on the 19th.

Been playing Keyboard & Mouse and with practice haven't found it too bad. How much of a learning curve will it be with my new flight stick? :eek:

I've got one and it is a decent stick.

Spend some time choosing the button combinations that work best for you. There are default settings in the game but it's worth fiddling around with them.

Apparently you can use one of the buttons as a 'shift' key which doubles the amount of button commands. I've not used this so can't comment on how effective it is.

Put some blu-tac under the stick/throttle to stop them sliding around, and once you've got the buttons set up to your liking then it's really very intuitive and simple to use.

And if you have a microphone then get the 'Voice Attack' software which lets you speak commands. This massivley adds to the game and costs less than £5 (I think).

It really is a good stick though - more expensive sticks might have more buttons but I'm really pleased with the HOTAS X in the months I've been using it.

ok it seems to be ssyncing now? taking ages though but i guess thats normal? is it actually downloading during this time? the mb/s is jumping all over the place 3.31 back to 0.06 and up again, odd
 
Yes the Thrustmaster HOTAS X is a great stick for the money. Part of me wishes I bought an X52 but I bought the stick mid last year to play the beta and had no idea if I'd get on with it so kept cost down.

Had I read your post before, I may have just gone for one of these sticks instead - it was the bit about using one of buttons as a 'shift' to double number of buttons that would have swung me.

Guess I should read more next time! Still, am sure the x52 pro will do nicely :D
 
I got an email today asking me to double check delivery info for the Kickstarter boxed version, so hopefully it'll not be too long before the physical version is out. If you ordered a physical version ages ago it might be worth making sure your details are right.
 
Well the lag in Open Supercruise still hasn't been fixed.

Anyone know if they are working on it?

In other news, just got my first hull reinforcement for the Cobra :)
 
Ok it finally installed :) omg overwelming but did dive straight in and have a tinker around in the menus etc. will have to go through the training vids i think. I took on a contract and think i plotted the route via the galaxy map, then did the fancy jump between a few systems. But when i got to the system i needed to be in i couldnt tell where the contract needed to be dropped off

Wonder if controller may be better than kb/m not sure will have a go. Started in solo but am i right in thinking you can just switch to online anytime?
 
Picked up a mission to kill 3 traders, jumped to the sector, just a sun there. So sat waiting for unidentified signal sources. Sometimes waiting ages, sometimes not long, but most did not contain traders.... Might give up after an hour, still one to get.

Is there something else I should be doing? Pretty dull waste of an hour :(
