Or is it that the pro-US government there can do what they like. The world stinks of hypocrisy when it comes to "Freedom of Speech"

I'm simply pointing out there are so many standards when it comes to "Freedom of Speech" that a few here keep banging on about, yet when a muslim or whoever says something they don't like then its not classed under the same banner.

Either way none of this is any justification for the murders that took place in Paris - its still a horrendous event but some people here should think twice when they start screaming about the "Freedom of speech unless it's not something I like" protests.

It's all a big conspiracy against Islam isn't it? How do you know the US/rest of the world haven't been supporting the Al-Jazeera journalists in Egypt? Didn't they just get granted an appeal? Do you think the Egyptian authorities woke up one day and decided to do this or were they persuaded to do this?

You mean the journalists The Guardian have frequently written about including writing about the diplomatic moves made behind the scenese, the ones Amnesty are championing, and the ones to date from a quick search you haven't mentioned on these forums given ample chance? Those ones or different ones?

Moreover, there is a difference between how you respond to things in your country and in other countries ...

Add in the Foreign Office, the EU and many others too.

So again, where is the hypocrisy?

well think about what you actually have to do to a human body to stop it working?

generally cut off the oxygen to the brain, you can put a damn good few holes in it and unless you actually nail the heart it'll keep going till there's no more blood min the veins to pump, so it takes a surprising amount of small holes (especially from 5.56mm ammunition which iirc our troops are always complaining about needing a lot of hits to actually kill someone fast instead of critically/ not instantly fatally wounding) in the system to actually stop it before it pumps its self dry.

its also in the guardian, the independent, the new york times but i suppose they arnt mainstream enough.
