Shame our government dont rid the country of all these idiots spouting hate against a country that they live in and sponge off!! Send them where they can carry out their beliefs etc.

I highlighted the above word as it is probably the important one. This allows you to mark some discrimination, for example opposition against gay marriage, as "justified".

Except I know female clergy, I know accepted homosexual Christians, I know Christian's who have had abortions, etc. To date I have never met a Muslim who will draw funny little pictures of Mohammed playing with Babe and then shown it to all their friends.

I accept Christianity is a regressive ideology, more so historically and in certain types, but to equivalate it with Islam is wrong. Moreover two wrongs don't make a right so what Christianity does is irrelevant to the behaviour of Muslims.
 
At least in most parts of the western world, traditional Christianity is being eroded/becoming less important and less practised which can only be a good thing.

As an enlightened people, religion should only really be something that is practised personally and it shouldnt be used as a basis for our laws anymore.

That is not to say a lot of what religion teaches isnt good because a lot of it is. Unfortunately many people seem to get fixated on the more ridiculous, outdated, morally wrong, unscientific and sometimes just plain evil parts of religious scripture.

Oh well, I'll just have to live with I suppose - I can feel a few restless nights sleep coming on whilst I wrestle with my conscience.

So we'll ignore the secular state examples of Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Canada, Australia and New Zeland. There are many more secular states - but those are the ones I put forward as good working examples of state secularism.

Again someone coming out with such poor logic. Also ignoring historical fact. For example, Stalin used the Orthodox church and promoted it during WW2 for patriotic means. Atheism was a means to an end for him and dropped and ignored when expedient not that actually end. Big difference that people often overlook when they use that line.
