OK, it seems my Protank II Mini is leaking. I've tried everything but it still leaks and I've tried many times tightening it, dismantling it and adding in even tissue to plug any gaps.... But it still leaks.

What other single coils are available? Not looking for something huge, ideally a similar size to the protank.

Cheers

Kanger aero mini (I think you can use the same heads), aspire nautilus mini is the most popular one at the moment.

But before you give up on the pro tank, make sure the coil is on as tight as possible and that the o ring is on the bottom. It sometimes comes loose with the heat or when your screwing the rest of the tank on; quite common in bottom feed atties.

You always will get some liquid leaks (well I do) with this sort of tank, you can also try firing it before you take a drag or/and not to suck in so hard.. The air flow is low on that tank so it tends to pull more juice, or it could be just a bad head; not vaping correctly.

Where is it leaking from?

Like, liquid leaking out of the actual tank, around the seals of the glass?

If that's the case, then definitely send it back, iv never had a problem with mine.
(apart from once when I dropped it off of a house roof at work, it slipped out of my pocket, but I had a replacement glass with me, popped it in, bobs your uncle :p lol)

If its leaking out of the coils, or flooding, then definitely make sure its setup right,

If its not, then send me a trust email, and if you send me a few of your old coil base cup things in a envelope, I will rebuild the coils for you perfectly the way iv done them for 18 months with 30g kanthal, 9 wraps, 1.8ohms using cotton it never ever floods or dry hits.

I wish I could see what what was happening so that I knew what to do to help right now, because its a fantastic little tank.

But like I said, if its leaking from the seal of the glass or something, well make sure its all screwed together tightly first, all the o rings are in place, if it still leaks, send it back, get a new one or money back and if its put you off the protank mini, then I guess you could try something else.

But also, if it is the standard coils that are flooding it, which I cant seem likely as that's the way its designed, but well, if you did send me some used coil cups, you could copy my build, then for the future you could make them your self, costs 3 quid for a 10m roll of kanthal, and cotton not that much, and 10m has lasted me a good 10 months, still using the same coil cup base things for my pro tank as when I got it 18 months ago.

Cheaper than buying new ones aswell as getting a better vape etc from it

When i remove it from the iTaste there is no liquid on the battery so that is not where it is leaking.
Nothing coming through on the tip side either. The glass on teh exterior is dry too.

When i remove the black section which houses the coil and i look at the coil it is all wet.

What do you mean its all wet?

Im quite confused, you mean the coil its self, and the silica wicks, and all around the base is wet, like all around the circle on the outside of the coil, the about 1mm down into the black part that the coil cup sits in?

If so, that is meant to be wet, that's where the juice goes, the juice goes from the tank, all around the outside of the chimney, then touches your silica wicks that stick out of both ends, then the juice runs inside through the silica to the coil then vaporises and the vapour goes up the chimney and into your mouth ofc.

Here are two pictures of my coil in my protank in the spoiler, it will look different to yours, I make them my self, and sorry this coil is a week old so it looks pretty bad, and its hard to get a image on a iphone of something so small.

On img 2, everything there is meant to be wet with liquid, Not flooded so much that the coil sat in the middle of picture 2 is flooded in liquid.
But the amount of liquid that should be on it is around the same as what is on picture 2

Edit: I don't use the rubber grommet on the chimney for a reason, because I make my own coils and with the amount of cotton I use, I don't need the rubber housing thing on the chimney, Do not do this with yours, or else it will cause even more liquid to run into the coil from the tank to the coil, if that's why you are wondering why it isn't there in my pictures.

Yes, all that coil base is meant to be wet, otherwise if there was no liquid there, you would be vaporising fresh air and dry silica wicks. :p Which would be lovely if you liked inhaling a bonfire :D

When you fill the tank then screw the base on then turn it the right way up ( when you turn the tank the correct way up ), don't worry that its still not full, that's because liquid has gone to the coil, the part that vaporises the liquid lol.

Erm, well, when im vaping on mine at anywhere between 10 and 13w on my vamo v6 (I still use my itaste when im out of my house), and I can use a full tank in around 15 mins. But that's because of the coil iv got built in there my self, it vaporises the liquid a lot faster, and that's when im chain vaping it.

But I just asked my missus who has the same tank, she said she uses around 2-3 tanks per day avg, when shes working, 2 tanks per day, and when shes sat around doing nothing, 4 tanks per day tops, but she always fills up before its empty, so probably the actuall average is 2 tanks per day, but she wasn't a heavy smoker either really.

Also, that ebay link looks pretty genuine to me, did the tank come in a square black box? the ones iv bought have, but it looks genuine to me, and even if it isn't, there isn't much to it anyway. and its around the same price as genuine.

Ye it came in a black box but the box didnt have any thing on it apart from "Made in China". The manufacturer's logo wasnt on it or anything else....

Hmm, could just be a oem then, but mine say made in china, but have a picture of the tank on the box also.

But it shouldn't make a difference at all.

Is it vaping well, and is it doing its job?

And did the gurgling fix when you pushed the rubber ring down like I said a few posts ago?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to get it working right for you if it isn't :)

Ye mine didn't have a picture on the box so probably an oem or a copy.

It did vape well but the gurgling never did go away.

I'm guessing its probably a copy which is probably why im having issues- the quality control probably is lacking....

I'm going to order a genuine one from a reputable site/seller. This one only cost me a fiver so its no big deal :)

Hmm If it's a copy then I'm really baffled by that lol I mean I got mine for about 6.50 or something I think, but it's that long ago I can't remember where I got mine from, but I ordered 3 of them after getting mine and I give one to my missus so Between us we got 4 in total. I got a pack of about 6 replacement glasses from fast tech for 1.50 I think, and so far only two glasses have broken in 18 months, one from dropping my ecig off a house roof, other was when I fell over with it in my pocket my missus still hasn't broke hers and got two brand new tanks spare
Think I bought about two packs of 5 replacement coils untill I learnt to build coils for it my self, keep all your old coil cups though because one day you will be interested in how to rebuild them your self or interested in how to do so, and like I said I'll rebuild a few for you so you can get a idea of how to do them :)

But yeah don't throw them away as you will wish you had them as spares incase you loose any parts when rebuilding If you ever do :)

Yes that is what i mean :)

In that case i have no idea where the liquid is going. Im baffled. Its not wet anywhere else but there.

How much liquid is used when using it at 8w?

The tank goes from full to empty within 2hrs....

I did buy my protank from ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191406383905?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Could it be that its a copy and not the real deal?!

That's not a fake, but it's NOT an original Kanger product, as in Kanger didn't make it. In the vaping world there's a lot of copying about, and/or the best way for someone to explain what something is or how it works is to refer to it as another product . If it's normally has the word "style" or "clone" around it, it's not the product of the orginal manufactures.

Some people don't mind, some people do.. Some style/clones are dangerous! But some do actually work better.. And finally sometimes the authentic is near impossible to get hold off, so people have to get a clone instead.

I've got my eye on a zero clone with a real dna 40 board inside.

Cheers dude, that's about the same that I get on mine :/

The RDA has a resistance of 1ohm, which is odd

It maybe light and easy to build on, but with that amount of resistance across the whole thing it takes a fair amount to get it going when using a 0.9ohm dual coil build.

I might try a dual 0.5 ohm build and see how that works.

Does yours whistle?

I have noticed the ramp up time is quite long with it, yeah.

Mine doesn't whistle.

:D Just kidding.

It was very nice actually. Have a couple of slight variations brewing too.

Tbh, I think that with the amount IceShock gets through, he should really look into making his own. It's the most cost effective way and you know exactly what's gone into it.
Ice, think about it mate :) It literally takes a few minutes to knock up a batch and then it's just a matter of waiting. How long depends on what you've made.

Iirc it costs me about 80p to make a 10ml bottle of juice. :D

Also re. the Custard lovechild, i also add 1.5% of Dulce De Leche it makes it even better.
And Mom & Pops make a concentrate called Sticky Bun, if you mix this at 20% , then when its steeped mix it 50/50 with some ready steeped Custard its even better ;)

it costs me, 89p for 10ml and somebody else makes it for me though lol.

I do fancy making my own liquid though

Look in the box, there is 2 other white 'o rings'. These replace the o ring that is on the bottom of the coil where is screws into the base to allow it to seal better. Thats where my issue of leaking was anyway.

I've found the problem.

I've watched a few videos on YourTube of the "proper" Kanger Protank Mini II and they have silicon rings in areas I do not on mine.

So, what i originally though was correct- it is indeed a knock off of the original but with parts missing hence the disappearing liquid.

I've ordered a proper one this time :)
