Having had the game since launch, I've only just now been able to sit down, set up my joystick and whack on my headphones to start playing... only to find I can't connect to the server.

Hang in there, it will work and you won't be disappointed... I hope :)

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was finally getting along a bit better again. Has a bit of cash, had installed some upgrades....

Other half calls because dinner ready. I must have just left it running...

Came back into room to see pilot bearing down on me, laying into me, and boom!

I think have had enough fo rone day of making absolutely no progress.

YEAH, Anaconda time <3

Spent 200m cr in total, it's a monster of a thing... Sounds like a real beast too, and when you deploy the hardpoints you can see the flashing orange warning lights then the turrets pop out, it's a very mean machine.

It's MUCH harder to fly than a Python tbh, it's slow, cumbersome, it feels very very heavy, the hardpoint spacing is further apart and it's just generally harder to pilot..... however.... when it comes to putting out damage, this thing is mental.

Started off with 4x large fixed beam lasers with an A8 power distributor (21m cr) and dumbfire missiles on medium/small hardpoints, it's pretty devestating - just took it out for some bounty hunting accompanied by some Alice Cooper;

For some reason, the fuel consumption is much better than the Python and Type-9, the Python was terrible for fuel consumption and the Anaconda isn't anything like as bad.

The size 8 power distributor is brilliant, An A class one will cost about 21m CR the B class one is 10M, I'm also running with a B7 shield (an A7 shield is 51M Cr which is insane)

I also had a go with the HUGE Plasma accelerator - it's pretty hilarious as you can one-shot sidewinders/eagles/haulers, but it's hard to use as it fires from right underneath the ship, so you have to be absolutely spot on with aim - it's gonna take me some practise to nail, but it's a pretty mean weapon...

It's USELESS for PVP, because everyone legs it, I had a pop at a few players (either in this vid or another one i'm uploading) and they all just ran for the hills with 10-20% hull left, you have to get the job done quickly in the Anaconda because you simply cannot pursue any of the smaller ships, you can in a Python with uprated thrusters, but it's not really possible in the Anaconda, even FA off boost turns take an age and your prey is already 2-3km away before you get lined up again,

In a Python a few people thought they'd have a cheeky pop at me with missiles/multicannons, in the Anaconda people don't even come near me, it's quite funny.... but without any proper PVP mode or matchmaking, I think i'll be confined to killing NPCs, I've only ever seen one other player in a Python and he was instantly nice to me, so I don't think there's that much to do except kill NPCs lol.

Great write-up, mate, I'm looking forward to trying one myself. Currently have about 170 million in assets but will wait until I have ~220. I can make about 6 mil an hour but can only be bothered to do 10 a day...Might try to grind to 200 million tomorrow if I don't get distracted.

yeah, I think I spent about 207M in total, that's leaving enough for a re-buy (insurance is about 8M)

I've got fullsize B rated stuff on just about everything except sensors and thrusters, power dist is A, power plant is 8C, as the bigger ones run into insane money (60M) and i'm running it at 99% so it's just on the borderline, might get a heatsink

It really is a monster, but it is sexy as hell, you can also trade in it (which feels a bit wrong) but it will take about 450 capacity and still have a shield of somesort lol.. so I think it really is a hell of a multi-role ship, although I wish they'd implement the feature where you can dock a sidewinder inside it (as it says in the shipyard description)

100k tonight, no so bad as only started at it in anger yesterday.

Running a crappy hauler now with no shields, no weapons, just uprated cargo, might try a rare run tomorrow. Seat of the pants stuff :)

I'm upto 3.2 million credits now. Are there any rare routes other than the Lave/Fujin one that rakes in more profit? And does anyone know what ship would be the best progression from the Cobra Mark III, if I want a ship that combines trading and combat ability?

normally play with friends in a group but played open tonight...wow totally different game!

I was on 2 insurance claims before I played open now i'm on 5! had two head on's with players when we were both hot dogging it through the station opening and got killed by a pirate who in fairness offered me a 10% deal but I thought i could out run him in a lakon 7....fail

Was playing along side a Gregster who was doing the same run as me, so maybe it was the guy who posts on here? if it was you i slammed into at Gliese 868 apologies but we were both hot dogging it!

All that cost me 7.5 million so i broke even for the night but i enjoyed it more as I had interaction with other players which was pretty cool

gona run shields from now on and sacrifice 35T of cargo, cheeper in the long run in open play

Open play for me infuture, what ever the cost :D

Interdictions are a nightmare. I finally got enough credits to buy a Type 7 and plenty of cargo space. I was left with 1.5mill Cr, which was soon swallowed up with Palladium and flew on my usual route albeit with an extra jump involved and 4 interdictions on one station. Just as I was pulling in to under 1000mm, I get pulled back to 22Ls....Meh

Do I need better power distributor to stop overheating when I hit FSD as well or is it the reactor?

First post here, so apologies if its been discussed.. But I was playing this fine for a week, and then started getting the greyed out Start button on the main page.. reinstalled and it worked again for a day, but now its permanently grey.

I tried to reconfigure the config XML with my port and IP, and setup port forward but without success, but a direct connection bypassing my router (Cisco Linksys E4200) does work..

Anyone got this working reliably through an E4200 or similar, and if so.. what did you do? Very annoying not being able to play this at all now I was getting into the flow of it.

thanks

ASP is an awesome ship, has great hardpoint spacing (6 hardpoints total), a great view out and you can carry about 104 cargo capacity (or something around that number)

Parasite fighter? That would be so cool!

Make it happen FD!

Yeah, it says it can be done in the ship description;

The Anaconda is the pride of Faulcon deLacy's ship yards. The design was first manufactured in 2856 by RimLiner Galactic. After numerous mergers the template was eventually owned by Faulcon deLacy, who have made only minor changes to the classic design. The Anaconda is a versatile craft that can transport large cargos as well as pack a decent punch. Some smaller navies use the Anaconda in the light cruiser and frigate roles. The Anaconda can also be upgraded with a docking bay allowing small fighters up to Sidewinder size to be carried and launched.

So i'm hoping they add the docking bay, as I've not seen it in any station yet..

A more powerful reactor should fix it, but in my experience you shouldn't actually take any damage unless you exceed about 150% heat output,

For me combat in an Anaconda = no point. I tried one during gamma for one hour before getting totally bored with it.

I exited hyperspace right between 2 close binaries. My temp rose to 211% but I survived with 6% hull left.

rofl argh, I haven't had it that bad yet..

I find those white dwarfs are also bad - just a small white ball dishing out insane amounts of heat, very difficult to judge the distance and before you know it your knocked out of supercruise,

Succumbed to the need for trading to get the best gear for combat. Bought a Cobra for the third time, and outfitted with reasonable shields, a fuel scoop and 36t capacity. Currently doing a one hop run trading resonating separators and palladium on the return trip. Getting about 85k per round trip. But god, its sooooo boring.

I wish they'd fix the hyperspace animations so the jerkiness disappears and the tunnel is centred on the destination. Maybe give you a less difficult version of the interdiction target to aim at to keep you in the right hyperspace direction. Those animations are straight out of frontier for gods sake, who said time travel wasn't possible?
