Getting rather bored of being offered 'alternatives' to each job I pick up, grab a couple and head out and can gaurantee the first couple of USS's I find are somebody offering me an alternative to each job. Go away, I just want to get the job done!

It was a nice idea if it happened occasionally, but every single time....

Do I need better power distributor to stop overheating when I hit FSD as well or is it the reactor?

The Lakon over heats very quickly, when you jump pull away from the star a bit and get your temps down to 75 before jumping again and you should not over heat, better power will not help you with temperatures

Yeah, I was having a lot of that.

Initially I thought it was cool, then started feeling, I would rather be bumping into the required NPC to get the job finished, much like you.

About to fire up again after my rather rubbish day on it yesterday. I better have a much better day today :/

What's worse is that if you go Nav point hunting and score a couple of kills, then head into a USS and get offered the alternative, your kill count gets reset!

Kill missions really could do with an overhaul. I don't even know how I'm supposed to do the kill Bounty Hunter missions. How do you ID a Bounty Hunter? I just avoid those ones now.

Bounty Hunters are none security ships that carry a KWS. They will typically come over and scan you, then give you an 'All clear pilot' - or shoot you if you're Wanted. ;)

Ouch, not had that but sounds very annoying. I've done quite a few of these kill x number of pirate missions recently where they are in a system with just a sun and nothing else, so there is literally nothing to do but sit and wait for a USS, and hope its pirate rather than more antiques floating in space.

How do you do the "kill pirate" one for the Federation? Will the ships show as pirate instead of clean, or is a pirate just classed as any ship that tries to kill me on sight?

Happy to discover did not simply lose what little progress I had made altogether. Thought I would not having insurance. Maybe cause I am still so early in.

Pirates are after your cargo. No cargo and they usually don't attack you (Unless they don't have a cargo scanner, then they take pot luck.) Easiest way is to tempt them is to put a tonne of goods into your cargo hold. That way if you lose out in battle it doesn't cost a lot. Some pirates show as clean until they commit a crime in that sector. They'll scan you. Without goods in your hold, they are unlikely to attack. You'll get a comm message something like "this won't hurt." at that point its a good idea to target them. They'll shoot you and go from clean to wanted. If they scan you, but you shoot first, and they are clean, you'll be the one in trouble with the security services in that sector.

Wanted targets aren't necessarily pirates. So sometimes a kill doesn't count towards the pirate total. Be careful if you accidentally shoot the local or fed/empire police. They will come after you. Don't kill them unless you are feeling suicidal. Run, dock locally and pay the fine.

If they sit right in front of you scanning you they are either a pirate or a bounty hunter.

You can tell the difference by their dialogue. A pirate will say "are you carrying anything nice", or "this won't hurt a bit". A bounty hunter will generally not say anything until his scan is complete.

I find that scanning these guys while they scan me is a good tactic. If they up wanted with a KW scan just start shooting them.

A more powerful reactor should fix it, but in my experience you shouldn't actually take any damage unless you exceed about 150% heat output,

Cheers. It is more of an annoyance really and gets to 110% from a cold jump. I can live with it but would rather just splash out on a reactor to stop the annoying message.

How I am currently playing.

Spreadsheet on left for taking notes. Not sure how much this is helping right now... but still

Browser right, for popping here and general "how to do XYZ" :D

So glad I did not manage to sell my K750 keyboard, as my main keyboard is wired and sitting on the keyboard shelf, so this sits nicely between my throttle and stick without needing yet more wires!

Mouse can thankfully be wired or wireless, so that just gets unplugged and moved up when playing.

The 40 inch philips is coming in VERY handy for this way of playing. Still get to run game in 3840x1280, not only giving a very wide FOV, but leaving plenty of space for browser windows, etc :)

Regarding going after pirates etc and not accidentally shooting the Feds - go into the right hand screen's Functions menu and turn off "Report crimes against me". This means when you do get into a scrap you won't get the cops showing up after a while, only whatever's already there. Less chance of them nicking your kills that way too, although that hardly happens now anyway it's more the other way round.

Hah! Some cheeky little NPC tried to jump my Cobra Mark III in an unshielded sidewinder. I usually run from pirates, but no way was I running from some "mostly harmless" weed. My weapons are weak, so it took a couple of minutes, but I smoked him!

Felt goooooooooooood! :D

Gone from a viper to a cobra to a type 6 in less than a day now. Hate trading, but need to the credits. 10.6ly round trip with <40ls to the stations making 200k per round trip. Soon have enough for a decent cobra or a poorly equipped asp.

####! ####! ####! ####!

Was attacking a wanted person, then a frikkin security vessel flew between us taking damage from me.

Managed to kill the wanted NPC, but the security vessel was now after me... needless to say, I could not get my FSD charged in time. Another 5 seconds would have done it.

Is there a way to call a cease-fire?

###### off now cause it wass down to its ##### piloting.

Edit:
Ah ####

Not only that, but had a mission to kill 7 pirates (WHICH I SPENT FRIGGING AGES ON) of which I only had one left to do.... now that ###### gone as well.

####### idiot security pilot.

####!

You'll get better. Friendly fire accidents occur. Best bet is to run. If you are wanted, dock in the same system and pay the fine. You'll usually have enough time to go back and finish the mission.

Am just fed up with this game right now.

Was so close to finally having some decent money (And by that I mean more than about 10K) and not only do I not get the 25K from the mission, I lose the nearly 50K bounty I had.

####### POS.
