Having been rammed by somebody doing the same thing into a station last night and losing my cobra to the collision I have no sympathy for you at all, if you are going to power through a station entrance expect to lose ships, if you don't have the money for insurance or to cover your cargo losses tough.

^^ Pretty much this. I've never lost a ship when someone rammed into me, but I've had a few where I've been heavily damaged and had to return for repairs rather than risk going out with such a heavily damaged hull.

It's completely avoidable.

Well I can honestly say I am right miffed now..... This last week (limited play time due to baby due any day soon) I have been making a long haul of rare commoditys. 200t of gear. I was on the game this morning to plot the route back home to flog the rare stuff and my PC is a fair few years old so took a good 15 mins to plot the route. Anyway.... with my ship loaded up with well over a c2,000,000 worth of gear I launch from the station and line myself up with the letter box exit, no ships around, clear route out of there. Max speed. Booster engaged...

Then suddenly as I am about to leave station a MASSIVE ship decided to pop up (like I said, old pc but decent GFX card) I had draw distance to low/med. Cue me bouncing of it, smacking the station, spinning around and blowing up..

not happy right now..

Feel like crying to be honest

Harsh..... but avoidable..

With 200T I assume you were in a Type-7 or something? it's pretty risky to be boosting in and out through the slot in a big ship like that, you can get away with it in smaller ships and even a type-6 if you're daring.. but a type-7 or something large,

I feel for you mate, I really do. I know this classes as PEBKAC but it doesn't ease the pain. Last time I stupidly got myself killed I had to take a 2 week break from Elite.

I move deploy hardpoints on fire and boost from anywhere near 1 click buttons. I lost ships too many times hitting fire or boost while docking/undocking.

I always creep through the station entrance. Don't go full throttle until I'm clear and can see the way is clear.

I've only been playing a day, though.

I must admit, if you go to a busy system like Eravate or somewhere - sit outside the station entrance and watch players boosting/hammering in and out of the slot, you do see some hilarious incidents.

haha, I sometimes come in pretty hot to a station if I'm carrying black market goods (I can't be bothered stealthing it) but thankfully it's yet to cause me too much aggro. Struck a glancing blow from an emerging NPC once and sort of learned my lesson. Well, saw what woe awaits me in the future as punishment for not learning it at least.

I had a massive scare yesterday with docking. I use Voice Attack and was just lining up at the letterbox and happily chatting away to the Wife, I used the word boost at somestage and this nice voice came back "boosting engines" and I boosted straight into the dock and only just managed to stop right near the end of the dock :D Heart was racing and I wad 216 tonnes of Palladium in my T-7.

Lesson learnt, no talking to the Wife whilst gaming :D

LOL

This game really punishes you for such things, although I still maintain that it's funny as hell watching an NPC getting blown to bits by the pentagram of laser beams inside the station, whilst it writes "must escape!!" and "You fight the good fight!" as it emerges through the letterbox in chunks.

At least in the smaller ships you have the agility to react, do the same in a Lakon and you just sit back and watch the train wreck. :)

Was doing this very thing last nigh around Leesti. If anyone was flying the Type 7 who boosted straight into the NPC type 9, thanks for the laugh. :D

Since swapping over to trading, my enthusiasm to play this has dropped dramatically! I think I'm going to have to get myself back into a Viper / Cobra and do some rare trading instead, so I can mix it up with bounty hunting.

There has been some really weird **** with the NPC's I noticed over the weekend. More or less (it seemed) that every NPC in the station did something wrong and got blown to bits. Just sitting there ready to launch and off go the lasers on another NPC and every time I flew in or out, I got caught in the crossfire. No biggie and no damage but just so often.

Asp? Can rock 50+ cargo space while still pretty formidable in combat. Expensive though compared to a Cobra.

Anyone played in any of the conflict zones recently? played in the low intensity zone in Neto last night, was really good - a bit laggy, but more fun than bounty hunting. It was also the first conflict zone I've played in, which wasn't totally broken, so hopefully they're fixed now

Well, after a few hours trading in a type 6, I gave in to temptation and allowed an npc to interdict me. Eagle, no shields, easy fodder. Then it happened again. This time, a hauler with shields. Decided to ram me. My shields drained a bit, and 1% hull damage. His shields gone and hull down to 16%. He lasted another 30 seconds or so. I thought hell, I won't bother evading interdiction any more, these are easy credits to make.

Third time, Imperial clipper, deadly pilot with shields and beam lasers. I turned and ran. Within 30 seconds my shields were gone. FSD Mass impaired by a factor of 18. I just boosted away, turned off flight assist and made my escape with hull down to 76% and cargo intact. Needless to say, I gave up 16t of cargo space to shield cells. Just hope the next one doesn't have an FSD scanner...

Retard moment. In my Viper, prefer it to the Cobra due to hardpoint placement, and doing a bounty to kill someone in an Annaconda. No problems at all, I had him down to about 15% On the power system , but I had just used my last shield cell. On a pass, we're pretty much headed towards each other, I was rattling away at him and it looked like I'd pop him this pass but just before we would have passed he knocked my shields down and for some reason my piloting skills went and I clipped him.

I obviously popped losing the 180k for the mission, the 105k for his bounty, highest ex bounty I've seen, and some 200k in unclaimed bounties. It was my own stupidity but I quit the game right away fuming :(

I'll have another crack later but man I was furious with myself :D
