a trial was carried out to stop pregnant mothers smoking

£10 per week is considered incetive for people who don't care about the health of their child something seems a bit wrong about the whole thing, sad.

Because cannabis makes you question stuff and "deep" think - which in turn makes people who would not normally question government choices / rules think more - which worries the establishment.
However it also makes them far less likely to act on those thoughts, so they kinda cancel each other out :p

TIL cannabis and social media have a lot in common.

I would have thought the likelihood of you harming your own child irreparably and possibly killing it would have been incentive enough??

Addicted to other substances?

It's a disgusting habit I wish I'd never started! Young and idiotic equals smoking is cool :(. Such a knob.

To be fair though I enjoy it and I don't know why that's why I'm finding it hard to quit although I know it's doing me nothing but harm I enjoy it...

You don't enjoy it, you're just addicted.

/ex smoker high horse :D

i agree. i hope they do ban it and i can't understand why they haven't. putting warning signs and graphic images wont make a dent.

Because aside from smoking costing the NHS a fortune the taxes earned from cigarettes is vastly greater than the cost on the NHS.

Ban smoking and the NHS collapses overnight

I find that the yellowed teeth, foul breath and the overpowering stale tobacco stench works a treat.

What's that got to do with trying to get pregnant women to give it up? If those things bothered them they'd have given up long ago.

My teeth are still white. I do know what you're saying about the smell even as a smoker I can still smell when others have had a fag its most unpleasant. Stupidly I can't smell it on myself although I know it's got to be there.

:D. You're most likely right :(.

Did you buy the horse with the money saved by quitting? :D.

I could buy two horses with the amount I've saved!

Worth reading Alan Carrs book, I never stopped when I read it. But when I did quit (over two years from reading the book) more and more of the book made sense.

In order to drive, attend university, have a job, or work in the community you have to pass a rigorous screening process and be evaluated as suitable to be allowed to do so.

Having and raising a child, the most difficult and responsible task in someone's life - any idiot or pair of idiots is free to do so.

Is it just me who finds this mildly disturbing? I am not by any means implying all parents are idiots, the vast majority are obviously not :)

On topic: How is this supposed to encourage people to give up smoking, surely once the mother has her "reward" she'll go back to smoking around her new born.
