Upcoming games to support Mantle

Speaking of RTS and Strategy Games..

Civilization IV designer Soren Johnson starts new indie studio Mohawk Games

Mars.

Mohawk Games, a new independent studio, has been formed under the leadership of Civilization IV lead designer Soren Johnson. Based in Baltimore, the studio is already hard at work on a new real-time strategy game code named "Mars." Mars will be an economic strategy game in which players found colonies and compete to buy out the other players.

After working on Civ IV, Johnson left to work at EA and then social games powerhouse Zynga. When the Zynga Baltimore office closed, however, his project was shut down and he left the company. Since then, he’s worked to get Mohawk Games started with an eye toward giving the real-time strategy genre a jump start.

“I love RTSs,” Johnson tells PC Gamer. “I’m just bored with what’s out there. I want to see the genre stretch and expand. I feel like it’s a genre that should be as varied as board games.”

For Mars, Johnson hopes to take the gameplay ratio common to civilization builders like Age of Empires and flip it: less war, more hostile economic conflict. The game, which is currently slated to run on Oxide Games' new Nitrous engine, is inspired by competitive economic games such as M.U.L.E. Players will be charged with founding and maintaining Martian colonies, and must strategically manage resources. While the game will include a single-player mode, Mohawk's real goal is to tailor the game for 2-8 players over a "hyper-competitive" 45 minute play period. "This is a game where the mechanics are economics," says Johnson. "The end game is to buy out all of the competition."
it seems Mars is Built on the Nitrous Engine, so may also have Mantle.

I'm that certain that neither COD or GTA5 will be mantle supporting GE titles that I'll stick £20 on the matter. That op is wishful thinking.

Give me a real reason as to why not?

Because of commercial agreements between the parties involved. Hand waving and saying yea but they can use what tech they want isn't a solid counter.

Edit: do you have anything beyond a made up list on a site of dubious reputation to say otherwise?

So your assuming that COD have an agreement with who? that they are not to use Mantle.

Aren't you just using your own assumptions to add water to your arguments.

Its pretty thin.

Ubisoft. Edit: wtf am I talking about here lol. I'm not going to edit this. I shall leave this moment of shame to remind me to think before taping out quick phone posts.

You know, the company who have announced the big deal with Nvidia to integrate all their game works stuff.

Anyway. I know better than to waste my time playing this pointless game with you. Let's revisit this in six months, once these titles are available. I imagine my £20 will be safe.

So, 6 months have passed and COD:AW ISN'T a GE title or Mantle and neither is GTA V. Indeed, your £20 was very safe :D

Out of curiosity, will Mantle be in Elite Dangerous and the new Tomb Raider does anyone know? It could be a great addition for AMD in those 2 games.

Greg on a one man mission to prove humbug wrong :D

Not at all, I was re-reading what Mantle games were coming to see if it is worth me jumping on the 380X when it is released (the specs look good if they are true) and read that. Made me chuckle :D

Edit:

Welcome back bud :)

Careful greg some might call it harassment or hounding them around:p

Going by the thread resurrection, plain to see member targeting, singling out, picking on, there is a name for that.:(

I remember three month forum bans for that kind of treatment, looks like lessons weren't learned.:(

Well if a mod wished to ban me, that is down to them but it was genuine questions. I am a massive Elite Dangerous fan and the game is still in beta, so if there are plans to add Mantle to it, I could easily be swayed to the 380X.

Report the post if you feel I am wrong.

Does mantle work in the bf hardline beta guys? Been playing it a bit since yesterday morning. Gotta say, for a beta it runs much better than vanilla bf4.

I don't think greg was personally or at least his agenda on bumping this thread was targeting/singling out humbug. But more to bring up discussion on games which was supposed to support mantle.

I was really hoping GTA would support mantle as i can see it being demanding on the CPU so would have alleviated that.

Also i hope that any upcoming decent MMOs and such would support mantle as i can see these games benefitting greatly from mantle as nearly all MMO are very CPU heavy and usually use the 1-2 cores. So spreading out the workload on more cores would help greatly would it not?

GTA V would have been epic for Mantle and AMD, purely because of how wanted the game is for us PC folk. I would have thought they would have grabbed that in truth but maybe R* just weren't interested? And if so, I worry about how the game will be ported to us PC folk and will it be as lazy as GTA IV was?

You should see the Email's he sends me.

It's a shame GTA didn't get Mantle, it would have been a prime candidate. Most people trying to play it have underpowered CPUs and laptops. Then again a game/engine as complex as that is probably a nightmare to get one version working acceptably let alone 2.

It run's well, agreed it run's better than BF4, Mantle has been asked for in the BFH forum. EA_Rick or whatever his name was responded saying he would ask but also posted EA's statement from a while ago that BFH would have Mantle.

I haven't been back there yet to see if there is an update

Indeed, not a bad game. Though ive no idea on fps and how it compares to bf4, seems it's a bit niggly with FRAPS.

I have seen that said on the Forum, about FRAPS with this game.

I use MSI's OSD, Ultra with 4x MSAA and low Post AA @ 1080P i get between 85 and 120 FPS's in Dust Bowl

That's better than i expected going from BF4 DX

FX-9590 @ 4.8Ghz
290 @ 1100/1400

The performance is quite nice, i hope it stays that way.

Using AB OSD here too, though you cant get min/ave/max with it. 4790k @4.7ghz, stock 780 sli. Noticed that this one works the cpu a bit harder than bf4. My usage was a bit higher and temps in the mid 70's on all cores. Usually in bf4 its mid - high 60's with low 70's on core 1.
