Have they recovered from going not-bankrupt yet?
They didn't go bankrupt
They moved from a very large organisation of Publisher / Game Developer / Engine Developer to a much more slimmed down and more focused Publisher / Engine Developer.
CryEngine 3, get's constant updates, 3 in the last Month alone, they are focusing on the continuation of developing what is
in my humble opinion the best engine in existence, and a good job of it they do too
They are also much more involved in those using that engine to make games, at an individual to individual; one on one level.
CryTek are very much alive and kicking, what they do now they do to a very high standard, far better than they ever did.
The sad thing about Mantle is the game devs have not really pulled their weight as it is their responsibility to implement it correctly.
DX12 is almost with us now and I suspect the number of games that support it will very quickly pass the number of games supporting Mantle.
Thankyou game devs for being totally useless.
To be fair, Mantle 'As good as it is' also needed more work, of course, it was never proclaimed to be a done thing, it does need mainly Engine Developer input and work, i don't know to what extent they or AMD pulled their weight or not.
But despite DX12, which is such a good thing, no argument, i do still want to see Mantle actively continuing to be developed and adopted by Engines.
It's much more than just the API that benefit's Gamers, it has a lot of potential for further technology and innovation development.
But it can only really happen if it's integrated into Engines, and integrated properly, i don't think FrostBite 3 is a good example of this.
I want to get my hands on Mantle, but not as a stand alone API, i want to see it in CryEngine.
