Anyone want this?

That is a pity, i have a fair bit of kit that i'd like to get shot of too.

Savagesam117, maybe gumtree or something like it?

I sympathise, i'd rather give stuff to people who know what it is and will actually use it properly as well.

Too much clutter makes Little*Freak's relatives get very grumpy :(

p.s. a very nice case, perfect for an unassuming pocket rocket :D

Slightly off topic I suppose, and probably against the rules as well, but where's the best place to buy/sell? Ebay is OK I suppose, Gumtree doesn't seem to have much, and a couple of Facebook groups I've checked out are just full of worthless crap!

Yeah i agree. I'd much prefer to give it to someone on here who needs it than sell it to be honest.

I get the same, my family hate the amount of bike and computer parts i have laying around the house. Don't even get me started on boxes!

I'd love to make a little build out of it and use it as a HTPC or something like that but my bank balance says otherwise at the moment.

EDIT*

Personally, I don't buy any PC parts unless i know the person, and they have looked after it or it's from someone on here who knows what they are doing

Of modern stuff i have a Phenom II/Motherboard/4 GB Ram (in a case etc), an AMD FX-4130 and soon an AMD FX-8320/Gigabyte 970A-DS3P/8Gb 1800MHz + case and PSU. May also have a GTX 770 going spare soon too..........also have various Harddrives and DVD drives/re-writers.

Have also got an AMD Athlon II 3500+ /Motherboard/Ram and an x800 pro toxic, also in a crappy case. Thing is, i don't want to buy new good PSU's to see if this stuff even works properly anymore. I just want rid of it all. An from what I've seen of the Bay (mostly reports from deeply frustrated people on this forum), i don't think i want to get involved with it. I'd rather give it away to someone who has the inclination and the time/money (new psu), to see if it's all still in working order and can be of use.

Driving myself and certain relatives bonkers with all the clutter......

I've got a spare 450W PSU here, chuck it my way i'll tell you if it works ;)

Savagesam117, if an Admin here gives the OK, i'll send you the Phenom II/Mobo/Ram a week after i next get paid.

To any Admin, i am not using it, it's just collecting dust. I would like to give it away if possible!

That's very kind of you. Thanks.

Can i ask, why do you have so much? just never got rid?

It really is a shame that the MM is at such a high place, i understand why but yeah.

If it's allowed, you will be doing me a favour, don't forget :)

Yeah that's kind of it, i used to give my Brother my last PC. In October i bought him the parts to build a new one, so i now have a few left over PC's, well the barebones or shells of them. An yeah, just sort of never got rid of stuff, gpu's were a different matter, i always over spent on them, so they lasted ages.

Yeah, i don't really blame them for that, i can think of all sorts of nasty scams that would drive the admins nuts. Also i suppose that if people started to offer people who posted for a spec free stuff cause they didn't quite have enough dosh, it could hurt OcUK's bottom line.

Might enhance their rep though :)

I think the 1000 post threshold is probably viewed as a kind of trust counter and the expectation would probably be that someone with that amount of posts would certainly have put a lot business in OC's way and continue to do so regardless of maybe buying the occasional item through the market. That's just my take on it I might be wrong..

Savagesam117, i must go to bed, i'll PM an Admin tomorrow and ask if it's ok for me to just send you the stuff, (if i can figure out how that is).

Good night :)

Okay, again, thanks. Yeah i don't know how to PM people either!

Night

Yes, i totally agree. I mean it's great to get parts cheap especially if it's for a spare build or something like that but you can't always buy second hand so being loyal to the company/forum gives you that perk.

I'll always tell people to buy from here. I bought from other places and been on other forums and nothing compares to OC. And everyone is so friendly!

Jinxter, i think you nailed it.

When reading the epic and quite hilarious GTX 970 memory thread, what stood out was the way that OcUK have decided to take any financial hit from people wanting to return their cards before Nvidia have agreed to refund people.

Speaks volumes about how this place views Customer Service.

In the long run i think it's very smart, many will look at that and quite rightly judge that if anything goes wrong, they will bend over backwards to make sure that people are happy and satisfied. With such confidence like that, why would you always buy the last gen stuff from the MM? :)

The 970 thread is quite amusing, but then people are upgrading to 980's or go to 290x's so it's not all bad for them is it.

Yes, that's true. and who doesn't want the latest, shiniest stuff? It even comes with great bragging rights to most of the time!

I cannot fault OC UK, even down to refunding me £5 because the RAM i got was discounted the next day, silly but it changes my perspective on the company, i was like wow, the guy didn't even think twice about saying yes.

I've bought hundreds of PC parts used from the MM, Gumtree, even eBay over the years, and I have actually never had a single problem! :)

I've even bought refurbished watercooling kits and hard-drives, 10 year old PSU's, GPU's which have been mined with, and so on. As well as faulty GPU's which have re-flowed fine, and motherboards with bent pins which have been a doddle to fix.

The only parts of my main PC which were new are the hard drives, and half of the RAM.

I know to a certain extent this is down to luck, but it does also indicate that you might not need to worry so much. ;)

You would buy a used car from someone you don't know wouldn't you? That is more of a risk.

There isn't a secret really, just make sure you buy from people with outstanding feedback or trust ratings and I've never had an issue.

Particularly when buying from the OcUK members market, some members do say that they will help with warranty claims if the part fails, and I have seen people accept items back without question when they were dead on arrival or damaged in transit.

I do not like buying from eBay or Gumtree though I should just add, if I can I always buy from the OcUK members market because the members market sub-forum is well policed, the prices are very fair, there are many deals to be had, you get the impression that people know about or have taken care of the hardware, people are very helpful, and forthcoming with information or answers to questions about the items. In a few cases you can even "stalk" their forum profile and read their build logs and read about their overclock settings and past issues with the hardware you buy. :p
