That is a pity, i have a fair bit of kit that i'd like to get shot of too.
Savagesam117, maybe gumtree or something like it?
I sympathise, i'd rather give stuff to people who know what it is and will actually use it properly as well.
Too much clutter makes Little*Freak's relatives get very grumpy
p.s. a very nice case, perfect for an unassuming pocket rocket![]()
Of modern stuff i have a Phenom II/Motherboard/4 GB Ram (in a case etc), an AMD FX-4130 and soon an AMD FX-8320/Gigabyte 970A-DS3P/8Gb 1800MHz + case and PSU. May also have a GTX 770 going spare soon too..........also have various Harddrives and DVD drives/re-writers.
Have also got an AMD Athlon II 3500+ /Motherboard/Ram and an x800 pro toxic, also in a crappy case. Thing is, i don't want to buy new good PSU's to see if this stuff even works properly anymore. I just want rid of it all. An from what I've seen of the Bay (mostly reports from deeply frustrated people on this forum), i don't think i want to get involved with it. I'd rather give it away to someone who has the inclination and the time/money (new psu), to see if it's all still in working order and can be of use.
Driving myself and certain relatives bonkers with all the clutter......

Savagesam117, if an Admin here gives the OK, i'll send you the Phenom II/Mobo/Ram a week after i next get paid.
To any Admin, i am not using it, it's just collecting dust. I would like to give it away if possible!
Savagesam117, i must go to bed, i'll PM an Admin tomorrow and ask if it's ok for me to just send you the stuff, (if i can figure out how that is).
Good night![]()
I think the 1000 post threshold is probably viewed as a kind of trust counter and the expectation would probably be that someone with that amount of posts would certainly have put a lot business in OC's way and continue to do so regardless of maybe buying the occasional item through the market. That's just my take on it I might be wrong..
When reading the epic and quite hilarious GTX 970 memory thread, what stood out was the way that OcUK have decided to take any financial hit from people wanting to return their cards before Nvidia have agreed to refund people.
Speaks volumes about how this place views Customer Service.
In the long run i think it's very smart, many will look at that and quite rightly judge that if anything goes wrong, they will bend over backwards to make sure that people are happy and satisfied. With such confidence like that, why would you always buy the last gen stuff from the MM?![]()
I've bought hundreds of PC parts used from the MM, Gumtree, even eBay over the years, and I have actually never had a single problem!
I've even bought refurbished watercooling kits and hard-drives, 10 year old PSU's, GPU's which have been mined with, and so on. As well as faulty GPU's which have re-flowed fine, and motherboards with bent pins which have been a doddle to fix.
I know to a certain extent this is down to luck, but it does also indicate that you might not need to worry so much.
You would buy a used car from someone you don't know wouldn't you? That is more of a risk.

You need to integrate more forum time into your day to day routine, a bit like people with no life, such as myself. *looks at own post count*
I'd give you some of my posts if I could.
I have heard plenty of horror stories about eBay purchases of PC parts, so I am generally very wary when buying from eBay. I only buy, on the rare occasion that I do, from sellers with very high feedback (98% or over) who have sold lots of items in the past, and you can get a feel for the person from the description. If it is brief and uninformative then I avoid it. Or if the person has taken a picture of a motherboard on the carpet, or a graphics card in their hand with their fingers on the contacts, I avoid it, because it suggests that they don't know to take care of/just don't care about their hardware.

I suppose i've always thought of Ebay as a place where the rule is Buyer Beware!
Not sure how much i'd use the MM, going to be about another 3 years before i get access at this rateI know most people are very good but i'm still quite wary of used stuff. Not sure why really!
I do this a lot just browse round reading posts and occasionally comment if I feel I can offer some advise or assistance. I've been on the forum for 10 years and at this rate ill be in my 70's before I get access to the members market! On a side note I've always bought stuff from OcUk since they were in Longton down the tunnel![]()
Also I'm really in the market for a second Sapphire R9 290 OC Tri-X for crossfire and I bet I could pick a second hand one up in good nick for a good price from here rather than risking the 'bay.
annoyingly I've got a mate who worked at my old job who is on here all the time and has a massive post count because he comments on the fifa thread all the time...
see what we need to do is just keep responding back to each other on this post until we get to 1000 lol ;P
Yeah to be fair all my stuff is new, but I'm not adverse to buying second hand, just not usually for my main PC . I have a lot of PCs, my wife counted up and said 20 is too many and told me to get rid of some, so i put them in the loft! problem solved![]()
I thought if you were a member before the MM reg change, you were subject to the old rules and not the new ones.
A tip of the hat to older, less vocal members.
Or did that change?
Yeah I know it got a bit silly, to be fair about 5 of them were an ESX /vsphere set up lab I was using when doing a VCP course /revision. A few of them are laptops and most rooms in my house have a pc/mac connected to a tv to stream stuff from the media pc downstairs. Then there's my Main Gaming Pc and my wife's PC in the computer room. Plus a bunch of old unused PCs that I put in the loft. They all add up pretty quickly and to be fair after I counted them all up I was pretty surprised :O

Not a particularly big house just a standard 3 Bed semi, but I am good at hiding / masking all my PCs to make it look like there's lessplus my wife never goes into the loft!
On a side note, out of interest, what was the initial thing you posted in this thread that I have successfully hi-jacked?

That was very decent of you! I could probably do with getting rid of a lot of my stuff that doesn't get used any more, but I'm CBA with messing around putting it on ebay after some bad experiences selling a laptop. For instance I've got a Q6600, Asus P5Q Deluxe and 8GB of OCZ platinum 1066MHz that's just sitting in an antistatic bag after I upgraded to my i7. Seems a shame to just have it doing nothing!
I'm waiting for Little*Freak to donate his GTX 770![]()
Hi, yeah i'm in the same boat, i only need 1 PC but have the parts for about 4.
I don't think i'm going to get a favourable answer to a question i just asked and i need to get rid of some of the clutter. I suppose that means a skip
Not for my current system & the 770! That'll either go to a good home or back into it's various box's. I did think about a media PC but honestly i barely watch anything these days.......i'd rather play online instead.
I'm in the same boat as you there Sam, and recently bought a similar spec here also:
i5 4690k
Gigabyte Z97 G1 Sniper
MSI 290X LE
8gb gskill ram
EVGA 750w G2 psu
Leaving an old Q6600, p5k, 4gb xms2, 620w corsair hx etc.. to hold onto aswell. Yeah ebay looks a bit hit and miss and potential hastle and time, so MM would be the only other place really.
It will be years for me probably also![]()
