BT to buy mobile firm EE for £12.5bn

Unless I'm missing something I don't see a massive issue competition wise, if it was one existing mobile carrier buying another then that would mean one less carrier, but BT doesn't currently have a mobile phone business do they? I would have thought 3 buying O2 being a much larger (and less likely to be allowed) issue
It means:
1) You've another provider who owns multiple services
2) You have a provider who owns the infrastructure (21CN) that all their competitors use

Vodafone and Virgin both sell backhaul that their competitors use, I'd wager it's more than BT sell to mobile networks currently. The goal is to own multiple services because you're much less likely to leave if you have triple / quad play.

They're not breaking any laws.

Blame the Government, the EU, it's useless blaming the companies as they are doing nothing wrong!

I'm not saying they are breaking any laws, I'm aware of the situation and do blame the government, EU etc. However its still morally wrong and given the choice I'd use a company that does pay its fair share of taxes.

Whether its illegal or not, I still hold it against them.

Can you outline what taxes they're not paying and why you believe this to be an issue?

Obviously i can't give you a detailed breakdown, if only it was that simple. As for why its an issue, if you can't see that then I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain, if you're happy living in an unfair society fair enough.

Anyway, I'll stop as its clearly off topic and not to debate here. I was merely making the point that saying its good news because its a UK company means very little and isn't necessarily good news for anyone.

One horrendously awful company buying another horrendously awful company. Means I only have one company to avoid doing business with, rather than two.

You're confusing BT with BT Openreach ;)

BT is a phone line/internet and former mobile phone service provider

BT Openreach are the guys who own/maintain the phone network, BT pay them to use it just like Talktalk/etc.

Shall I take it to mean that you don't have a clue then and that you're just jumping on the "ERMERGERD TACKSESES" band wagon?

I can bore you with links if you want, but it sounds like you prefer your state of ignorance.

If unhappy at having to pay more than my fair share of taxes while others don't is jumping on some kind of bandwagon then fair enough.

How am I displaying ignorance by asking you to explain your stance and why you're complaining?

Do you propose said companies stop operating in the UK if they don't want to pay UK corporation tax?
