Looks like a highly trustworthy and clearly unbiased source, far more impartial than any mainstream news outlet. We should immediately set out to right this clear travesty of justice.
For the avoidance of doubt, yes, I am being sarcastic.
regardless of the details I don't think a strike is appropriate at all over a single case concerning one driver - they should be supporting him in a tribunal etc... not trying to hold TFL to ransom by threatening to shut down the entire network

So the employer can apply unilateral action but the union can't?
Not when the action of the union has the potential to bring huge disruption to one of the worlds major cities, no.
The dispute is between the union and the employer, any action should taken should not disrupt those who have no involvement in the issue itself.
In your opinion, which is fortunately contrary to what the law says.

As soon as you start shouting when the other person is calmly speaking, I couldn't care less if you have a point or not. You've lost.
"Don't raise your voice. Improve your argument."
Deal with in at an employment tribunal, don't drag most London commuters into it.
Personally I don't see why management and union can't get along and resolve the issue like adults. Both sides seem to act like children whenever anything happens, I've notice this at my work too, which is why I'm not a member of a union - I'd rather not have one of them speaking up for me (shouting) when I'm perfectly capable of doing so and seeking legal advice myself.
Did you even read the last link? LU are refusing to go to an employment tribunal - that's all RMT want.
Then go to the next step and involve Acas and proceed from there - I still don't see the reason why the whole workforce has to strike.
I think we do need further laws to curb the power of unions such as the RMT if they're going to carry on behaving like this.
When it was illegal to strike in this country, do you think there were no strikes? Do you think workers had nothing to complain about? Do you think when it was illegal to strike that all employers treated thier workers fairly and with compassion?
How do you think the right to strike was won?
The ASLEF, RMT, Unite and TSSA unions are currently planning strike action, affecting London Underground. If this goes ahead, there will be no Tube service from late afternoon on Wednesday 8 July and no Tube service at all on Thursday 9 July.
