****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

So I kind of have serious buyers remorse after receiving my MM n3DSXL (I've actually put it up on the marketplace here).

I'm really shocked at just how low resolution the screens are. I swear my original DS lite didn't look this[ pixelated when playing. The screens are so low res that you can actually see the scan lines. It's even worse if you turn 3D on because the AA is turned off and it looks even more pixelated.

I know graphics aren't everything, but I genuinely find it difficult to look at the screens because everything is so blurry and low res. I can't believe even the menus are low res considering the extra horsepower the New edition has.

On top of that, I think the games are very overpriced. Considering the machine cost north of £200, the fact the games cost £30 and never drop in price is another difficult asset to swallow.

Can you guys try and cure my buyer's remorse? Or am I just not a 3DS guy?

Sell it and get a regular one for about £120 from Amazon.fr

Part of the issue you have is you got the XL which is noticeably worse. Not that you'd be blown away with the n3Ds but it's a reason I got rid of my XL and went back to normal screen.

That's something I'm definitely considering. I think it'll be easier to stomach having a potentially useful paperweight if it costs 50% less.

It's annoying, because when you watch gameplay footage of any 3DS game on youtube for example, it doesn't at all suggest how crappy the 3DS screen is. I feel like every 3DS gameplay clip should have the scanlines superimposed on top to make it look more accurate.

The ghosting is much better now after I calibrated it again without my glasses on. The stable 3D is fantastic and would have really helped the 3DS if it had it at launch (though it hardly matters now its selling like hotcakes).

Yeah, the n3DS XL has single handedly sold me on 3D, a technology I despised beforehand.

Maybe with all the hype you was expecting too much? You are used to looking at mobile phone screens with higher screen res than the 3DS.

I own the original 3DS (yes I was the idiot who paid £229.99 for it on release), 3DS XL, 2DS, N3DS and N3DS XL. The screens are fine to me no matter what game I'm playing. Cant comment on the 3D though, due to my bad eyes I cant see 3D so I always keep it off.

As the for the game prices, only the Nintendo exclusives hold their value because of quality. Cant hold that against Nintendo :)

Actually, I have bought 2 games so far (3 if you count MM which came with the console), both OOT and A Link between worlds were both £25. It's not too bad, just got to look out for good deals.

I said similar on Reddit recently and got shot down. Fanboys just can't understand that games should go down in price as they get older (generally) whereas Nintendo ones don't.

Look at Starfox 3DS, it's still £37!

Ocarina of Time 3DS is my go to example:

I doubt the N64 version was priced that consistently.

It is kinda funny that when I sold my copy of OoT recently that I made a profit from it despite it being over 2 years old... :p

Its down to timing. I bought mine for £15 two years ago in Game over the Christmas sales. It stuck at for £15 months beyond that, I think it hit £12.95 at one stage. Now its £37:eek:

Its one of those things not only with Nintendo games but in general. Not many want them on release then years later all of a sudden people want them to play. Another example is Kirby's Wii Adventure, no one gave a dame about the game on release but it sells for over £45 now pre owned. Yet you can get Kirby Epic Yard also on the Wii for less than £10 brand new.

If Nintendo turned out the same games like EA, Unisoft and Activision every year things would be different and the games would have no value at all.
