One of our cats came back covered in ticks

Last year during the summer one of our cats came back with 30+ ticks after missing for a few days. These ticks were purple-silver coloured about a small pea sized and believed to be sheep ticks. Fastforward to today and one of our neighbours had an argument with one of the other neighbours who threatened 'your cats will go missing' it was nothing to do with us but she came to tell us of the threat made because we have a few cats too. Now I got to thinking about the ticks incident - we live in a urban area with no sheep for miles and its a long way for a moggy to even get somewhere resembling a 'rural setting'. Does anyone have experience with there pets getting ticks? It was a one off event - none of the other cats ever had them and I'm thinking that our cat was taken and dumped somewhere but somehow returned. Are these sort of ticks wide spread and this could have happend by chance??? I have never heard of this before.

Regards
Scotty

cats have been known to cover hundreds of miles to return home

you get lyme disease from the ticks here, i had one that was about 5mm in size crawling on me. The woods out back are full of them, due to the wildlife.

get some tick and flea repellant for your cat.

Unusual time of year to pick up ticks. Horrible things. Careful they aren't being brought into the home.

Yes it would be an odd time of year but I did mention it was summer - it just came to this because of a neighbourly threat (my neighbours cat took a dump on the threatening partys' garden, and it's got a bit silly) - however the threatening party only moved in 3-4 months ago and they were carrying their belongings by hand over a period of 2 weeks and often the 'tribe' also had cans of larger - it was obviously thisty work and I had a heart felt moment for as they toiled up the street - 'why didn't you save the beer money and get a removal van to do it' but mostly its was for my neighbours as this kind of behavioural display clearly means that there is a likelyhood of dysfunctionality and I wasn't wrong. The result was the threatening party shouting and swearing in the street at their neighbours, loverly people....

Forget front line, might as well use water.

We use StrongHold as it's a wormer too and the vet suggested that the fleas are getting resistant to some of the others like Frontline (we always used that for years).

Fingers typing to quickly without giving my brain enough time.
Yes there does seem to be evidence that fipronil in the doses that are in Frontline does seem to be losing effectiveness.

Y however the threatening party only moved in 3-4 months ago and they were carrying their belongings by hand over a period of 2 weeks and often the 'tribe' also had cans of lager - it was obviously thirsty work and I had a heart felt moment for as they toiled up the street - 'why didn't you save the beer money and get a removal van to do it' but mostly its was for my neighbours as this kind of behavioural display clearly means that there is a likelihood of dysfunctionalality and I wasn't wrong. Oh dear!

Bang goes the neighbourhood! :(

Mind, to my shame, I have also, on occasion, been a bit antisocial in the past!. :D

Couple of years ago, very cold winters, was freezing and had run out of fuel. so went out to cut up more firewood..

Unfortunately chainsaw usage at 23:30 doesn't necessarily go down terribly well with the neighbours. However the explanation that "I was Cold" seemed sufficient at the time!

Especially since I was a large drunk guy with a power saw! :D
