Yes, and to be honest its what I do 99% of the time as the interdiction is usually a distration to what you are wanting to do at the time. Not sure it is so effective against actual real players though.

Try to make sure you align with the escape vector thing in the interdiction as if you don't when you drop out you might still take some damage (this is true even if you submit to the interdiction, which if you are a trader I would recommend you do as not only do you avoid damage but you also get a bit of a headstart in the running away)

Does anyone have any nice trading routes their willing to share (via trust etc?)

Since the trade fix im struggling to make much profit in round trips in my type6. Ive been sticking to just doing Rare trading, but my god its dull lol.

Interdiction is getting out of hand if your fully laden with cargo (48t in my case sometimes worth up to 650,000cr) its very hard to evade as the ship is sluggish with all that cargo onboard. Even if you hit zero throttle straight away the ship is so sluggish at stopping you can still get hit a few times before dropping out of supercruise.

Sooner or later I can see myself losing a lot of progress as some of the ships attacking are using overpowered weapons which only take 1 or 2 hits to disable you

Can you still just boost out of interdiction scenarios without getting into combat?

At the risk of sounding unbelievably stupid, what's boost? :o

I always try and follow the vector and sometimes it works, sometimes not. I didn't know you could boost though. I just use the throttle.... Oh man. Am I missing a fundamental aspect of the game that will help me? :o

I had a strange mission yesterday or 2 in fact... I was asked to donate 40K to the war efforst in Hutton Orbital, which I did :o And then a bit later on, I was asked to donate 4M to the war efforst in Hutton Orbital, which I didn't do.... I am now wondering if that wouldn't have pushed my standing up to a point of getting the last federation rank?

@ Apsilon - Boost is the tab key (or whatever you set it as in your controls)

Thanks Greg. There are so many mappings on my Hotas and KB and I didn't even realise there was a boost. If I have seen it, I've never used it. I'll reassign it later

No worries and I am sure there are keys I have never known about or used as yet :D

It is a great way to quickly get away. Assign 4 pips to engines and it quickly fills up.

I achieved last rank in Empire without donating any money (apart from the occasional donate food, slaves, etc.), if you just keep plugging away with faction rep you'll get offered a promotion sooner or later!

Cool to know cheers. That element of doubt in my mind wouldn't clear off :D

Apsilon, am guessing if you don't use boost then you arent aware of the following established method of escaping interdiction?

Upon interdiction throttle to zero and submit. As soon as you get pulled out of supercruise assign four pips to your engines and hit boost away from the NPC. When your engine capacitor has fully recharged then boost again, repeat until your FSD is cooled down and you can re-engage supercruise away from the NPC.

Simples.

Once you start to upgrade (particularly power distributor) you don't need to wait for your capacitor to refill, just wait for the thrust of the current boost start to die off and boost again. Also I've found it a good habit to go to 4 engine pips before I jump so if I am interdicted and submit out it's one less thing to worry about and get straight on with boosting the hell out of there.

Same as this, depending on what I am doing, decides where my pips lie. If I am trading, I have 4 pips to engines and 2 pips to systems. If I am going for conflicts, I have 4 pips to weapons and 1 to each systems and engines but will change that if needed. All is set from the time I leave the star port.

For the interdiction and escape,

Line up for escape vector, hit Flight assist off, hit boost, 4 pips to engines 2 to shields. Give yourself a slight spin (no pitch) if you go astray from vector hit FA back on line up and repeat FA off.

Remember with FA off your faster for longer.

I tried to fight a Elite Cobra NPC the other day and lost :( Was spamming his shield cells that was approx 6mil down the drain :D

Recovered it last night though, so its all profit this evening :)

Thanks. I didn't know anything about it. I'll assign it later and follow the advice for the next time it happens (sure to be soon).

Discovered my first Earth-like world!

Funny thing is that I stumbled upon it by accident; after travelling over 5k LY out from Sol and past the Lagoon Nebula I found a huge area of undiscovered space and visited over 80 spectral class K, G and F stars hoping to find an Earth-like planet, only to be disappointed every time.

Eventually I got fed up and plotted a course home; whilst refuelling at a red dwarf star only 700 LY from Sol I performed a long range scan only to find a previously undiscovered Earth-like planet! So I scanned it and double timed it back to human space to get my name on it. Guess it goes to show that the best way to find something is to stop looking for it! :)

Nice one. I was the first to discover many different systems but none of them were earth like. I was around 1K ly from Sol though and I had enough of scanning :)
