Which 3TB HDD

i need a new HDD and going to get a 3TB which is better?

Toshiba 3TB 7200RPM SATA 6GB/s 64MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA300) HDD

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST3000DM001) HDD

Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD30EZRX) HDD

is there much of a performance increase using their red drives? looking at 3tb drives myself and stuck between all their different types of the same drive

Red drives aren't high performance, they're optimised for NAS. I'd stick with the green for media storage or go for the WD black if you need performance.

The reds are for NAS really. If it's just for a home PC, get Black or if you don't want to pay the extra, go Green! Performance is the same, it's just what they're used for.

WD Blacks are performance drives but come at a premium!
