Best TV package that doesn't require a license?

The only packages which do not require a TV license are online only. Every online only package does not require a TV license.

From what I last heard it doesn't matter if you watch the content but if you own a device capable of recieving any form of televised media PC, TV, Mobile, Tablet or otherwise you are now obliged to pay the TV licence.

edit: seems I'm wrong Here you go advice form the ****Official**** site:

A wet piece of string is capable of receiving the signal. It can't do anything with it mind but its still capable:D

No, the point is your missing the point :p

BBC content whether live or on demand has to be paid for, if he's not paying £150/yr for it then majority of those that do think its reasonable enough value compared to for example Sky content or PPV have to pay proportionally more.

mot of that funding comes from selling it aboard though.

you can't watch live tv and not have a license.

obviously you can watch youtube and twitch live streams and ondemand content from iplayer etc

just get netflix or something

Every online only package does not require a TV license.

which is exactly what he is asking for which "something" is the best to get.

Have a look at NowTV. It has bbc iplayer, ch4, ch5, ITV on demand services and you can also subscribe on a monthly basis to sky entertainment, sky sport and sky movies. See the website as to what channels you get. They're on demand. We use that and an Amazon fire with prime subscription. Never run out of content to watch.

FYI The BBC Charter is up for renewal in 2016 so you may well find TV Licensing is enforced for on-demand content. I wouldn't be surprised if it is, on-demand is expected to be at parity with live consumption by 2020 and considering the charter runs for 10 years they'd be silly to overlook it.

That's not to say it'll be any different to not paying and still consuming live content now though, I know plenty of people who don't pay the TVL.

A very aptly timed article on the BBC about this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31623659

Of the options mooted for replacing the licence, the most likely one to me seems the mandatory broadcast tax as they do in Germany, so will likely be moot in a short while anyway.

I just use netflix and youtube it's more than enough for me. Also safe in the knowledge that you are not paying towards celebraties abusing children or ridiculously biased news reporting.

I have a feeling they are going to close the 'loophole' of on demand TV in the next few years, it must cause them more than a little annoyance that some people are watching for free.

Now TV box with PLEX installed is all I need to stream anything on PC to telly and all for a one off payment of a tenner. I have to download all my films, tv etc... but it means I don't need a TV licence. Last time the fella from TV licence came I just showed him the box and he knew what it was. Actually the TV is watched 99% of the time for my grand-daughters cartoons, me and the missus rarely turn it on - she likes it for YOUTUBE vidoes occasionally.

Personally I think it wrong that the BBC have used the government to enforce licence payment for years and I'm staggered it still goes on. They need to get a different way to raise revenue like every other broadcaster.

Now they are going to change the TV license so that everyone has the tv license money stolen from their salary before they get it, as they know that people are moving away from traditional licensing required viewing and thus the BBC is on its way out. Typical that the BBC would find a way to make everyone pay for it when its time for it to die.

I wonder if you'll only be able to access iPlayer with a login which is linked to your TV license.
