Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Well 15 More Prestige levels, Mad purple armour and Elite weapon for every Master Prestige level...

Details:

I don't know what I think about the Elite Weapons being able to be earned like that, mainly as there is no way I will get to that level. I would have preferred specific challenges that anyone can do not just the people that are on Prestige Master.

It is just another cynical method of generating cash and prolonging the life of the game till the next one comes out.

I am completely against the modern day obsession with achievements, and I am also completely against DLC content dividing the online community and giving players an advantage because they paid more (basically making it P2W). Particularly when you know the content of the DLC could have been put in the game for release.

Sure, there are people that will argue about deadlines and cost, yada yada yada. The bottom line is that it is a rip off and unnecessary in most cases. It seems to be an element of the modern console centric development strategy that has proliferated to an obscene extent. It also appears to be a side effect of corporate publishing rather than passionate developers.

Without achievements we are nothing!!!

Perhaps it is also indicative of younger players not being able to see the wood for the trees and who are happy to spend £20 on a couple of new guns and maps because new stuff is cool, right? I can't really see older players falling for it (or at least I sincerely hope they don't), but it must create sales or they wouldn't be stuffing it down our throats every 12 months. So someone must be buying it.

Whoever you are that buys this crap, you are part of the problem not the solution :)

Jump under a bus, or off a cliff or maybe just dont buy that crap anymore (which is a safer and easier option! ;) )

How is it a cynical method to generate cash?

The new prestige levels are nothing to do with generating cash....your rant seems very odd.

Yeah I agree.. The only way that would be the case is if you were required to have the DLC. You don't have to buy any of the DLC to get these extra Prestige levels or weapons.

As far as I am aware the only weapons that you have to pay for are the ones that are in the DLC and they are still not required. Yes there are new skins etc but again you do not have to buy them at all.

Yes but can you not see by offering this kind of thing it sucks people in to spend more time in the game and increases the chances they will spend more money on microtransactions / DLC?

People hit level 10 prestige and have nowhere to go. They go and play something esle because they have been conditioned to feel that they need 'achievements' to feel like they are, well, achieving. Because of this, servers become less populated, other players can't get a decent game so they too leave for something else.

That is a conflict with the marketing plan to keep the game alive and thus making money until the 'new' version comes out. It will be called Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 2 (for a guess :) )

It is typical cynical carrot dangling to buoy a game that is struggling to stay alive just a few months after release.

For example - why were the increased prestige levels not in the initial release? Surely with the amount of CoD games that have been developed, it could have been foreseen that an extra 15 levels would add life to the game? Because it fools players into thinking they are getting something better, something for free. Isn't that very nice and kind of the devs/pubs?

Chances are it is simply a headline that was planned during development to keep the game talked about and make it look like they are adding to the overall quality with continued development. Whereas the truth of the matter is it was all developed and planned before the game was released :)

My guess is that the extra levels were added in because people were crying about not getting elite weapons in supply drops, now there is a way to make people grind to get them, it's been added (IMHO) as a now they can say, well we've given you a method to earn them off you go.

Ace thanks.
How big is that update please?

I have one of those, but I tend to prefer the SN6.....

I wonder if the reduction in recoil on the SN6 is going to make it more usable without a foregrip?

Not a lot that effects me in that update as I dont have the DLC, I dont play any of the game modes that have been tweaked etc etc.

I think people are struggling getting into AW to be honest. From what I read it is struggling in sales compared to it's predecessors and the fact that Activision are not shouting their figures from the roof tops is yet another indication sales are down. As time drags on, the business analysts are increasingly skeptical of how successful AW has actually been.

I think they have had 2 hum-dingers in a row now: Ghosts and AW. Perhaps the tide is turning on the CoD machine?

I think it was a bad move to only have Mosh Pit in classic mode. I think they could have kept far more players if they had a full compliment of game modes for classic too. I know I would be playing it more if they did.

I can't believe the Havoc DLC still isn't available in HTDM or anything else hardcore other than Mosh Pit.

What a waste of money that was for me.

I love my Breakneck if you are accurate with the first couple of shots its awesome as they do more damage and rip through people. It truly is a great weapon.

I do like AW. I have just learned to live with the fact that I can get shot from almost any direction and K/D ratio means nothing to me. I usually play dom and I am constantly going for the objective and actually playing that game. I don't know why people don't just play TDM if they want to killfarm. I also love Hardpoint as it has the same premise as DOM but more concentrated on one point :D

I'd love to try the new patch, but us Dickensian citizens on PS4 have to wait god knows how long for the patch after the Xbox Master race.

Allegedly it's due to Sony certification, but it seems most odd now that Xbox get these patches first and Sony seemingly get them 1/2 weeks later.

It stinks in all honesty.

I have tried and tried and tried to like it. I want to like it. Some days I like it better than others, but the flaws and design decisions baffle and frustrate me.

I finished the single player game last night. It was more fun than I remember, but nothing remarkable. I am also playing the BF4 single player. I find it better, personally, even though it is older and not quite as good looking.

I think SHG had an amazing opportunity with AW, and for whatever reason they didn't pull it off.

Quietly I believe it may have been down to platform limitations. As good as the current-gen consoles are, the couldn't cope with a graphically maxed out AW using 90 FOV on a 32 player server running maps that are 2-3 times the size of the current ones in the game (imo).

Unfortunately AW may be the sign of things to come because peoples obsession with shiny graphics means there isn't a lof of wiggle room for anything else.
