So when I moved into this house in august last year, we were in desperate need of an oven and so bought one from B and Q just after we moved in. The oven is a bog standard single unit oven with built in grill and timer which cost around £300.
Around the middle of January this said oven stopped working as the it would not heat up. After checking it turned out the oven heating element had welded itself to the side of the oven and was now incapable of turning on. I call up B and Q who pass me on to their repair service company which is when the problems start to rise.
I'm a teacher which means Mon-Fri I have to work 08:00-16:00 and so is my partner. The repair company B and Q uses only carry out repairs 08:30-16:30 Mon-Fri no exceptions and also will not give a time slot until the morning of the day of the repair. As a teacher it means I cannot take a day of during term time, unless I take it off as unpaid leave (which I can't afford to do) and on top of that the school would have to pay the stupid rates of £30-£40 p/h for a cover teacher. And even if I went home just for my time slot, I couldn't leave just for a few hours if I didn't know which hours they were until the day.
As we wanted the oven fixed, I decided to take a day of as unpaid to be in for the repair. A repair man came and replaced the heating element in the oven, turned it on and it got hot so he left. Later that night when we tried to use it, we found it does not heat up but not to any useable temperature.
I phoned up again to complain but all they will offer is to send another repair man out, which we can't work with as we can't take another day of work during term time even if we wanted to take it as unpaid leave. B and Q don't care and won't do anything else such as a replacement or refund or just even put me through to a higher manager to try get this sorted.
Now to me, even outside my circumstances, asking someone to take a day of work is not a reasonable request to me, what time do they think the majority of the population works?
So my question is to the armchair solicitors of OCUK, how should I proceed?
The two options I can think off at the moment are:
Before the usual responses come flooding in, yes I have pooed through their letterbox, and tried my boxing standing to invoke fear into their souls. I also asked the UK government to borrow a nuke so I could launch it from orbit, but they wouldn't =/

The two options I can think off at the moment are:
- Go to the B and Q store and ask to spek to the store manager and kick up a fuss around other customers if they don't help to resolve this situation?
- Small Claims Court?
