Two OC GTX680's with Far Cry 4 at 2560x1440 (new monitor) appears to be struggling! Have I reached the VRAM limit? I've adjusted teh settings down from Ultra but it's still running between 25 and 45 fps and at times stutters or falters.

What am I looking at in terms of reducing the settings even further or am I looking at new video cards?

Andi.

What's the rest of your spec?

Are you using MSI AB or GPUZ to monitor the VRAM usage? That would indicate if you're hitting the limit.

Most definitely.

What drivers are you running? Make sure they're the latest.

Think the 660's had a similar mem layout to the 970's, in that the last 0.5 gb ran slower that the rest of the vram, so that definitely wouldn't help at 2560x1440.

Edit - Never mind, read it as 660 rather than 680, sorry :)

You might want to try overclocking your CPU for the start.

Though for Ubisoft's recent titles, they are so iffy and with so much problem that even if you had two high-end graphic cards and it'd still run like crap. Personally I wouldn't recommend upgrading anything based on performance of Ubisoft's games...but at that res, it could be true that running our of vram is what cause's stuttering (though there are people get stuttering in these Ubisoft games even when have enough vram).

Still unhappy with performance on 2 980s @ 2560 x 1080 on farcry4 ... Wouldn't bother upgrading anything for a UBI game . Just Lower settings and grit your teeth .

There u go its the VRAM limit.

GPU should always be 100% load as long as you don't have frames limited if not you have a bottleneck.

Before you go and upgrade your video cards try overclocking your CPU that should boost your minimum frame rates which will result in smoother gameplay.

Reduce the memory hogging features such as AO and AA to see if it helps.

if they are the 2 GB you need to reduce things till your not maxing the vram out , 4GB same but won't be as drastic

Running 4GB 670's here and things @ 1440p seem fine(although I'm using DSR for 1440p)

I would be weary of upgrading for any Ubisoft game, especially when many 970 SLI users were even reporting stuttery performance in FC4.

If your gaming performance is fine in most other games you could do well waiting for the cut down version of big Maxwell.

But, but but I want new cards now!!! :D

What is a cut down Maxwell anyway?
