nVidia announce the Titan X at GDC 2015

Not in 90% of games. Few games go over 4GB @4K, save for direct console ports.

I think you will find you are in error and regardless of whether they are console ports or not, they are still games that people want to run at the resolution.

And there will be a lot more console ports before the game devs are done.

Which two cards are you trying to compare ?

well you guys were comparing the first titan to the 680, but this titan is coming out in a different order with the 980 already out??
maybe comparing the 1st titan to the 780 would give closer idea what to expect? :)

more memory can effect the overclock tho right?
or is that usually by not a lot?

Yes it does effect the max oc but not by a huge amount

Compare the Titan Black to the 780ti and there is not a huge difference in performance.:)

980 = Maxwell 680 mate. 970 = Maxwell 670.

Titan X = Maxwell Titan.

That's why you're seeing the 680 mentioned, as basically it was mid range Kepler with the Titan being the big boy. So this time around the 980 is mid range with the X being the big boy.

Just hoping the yields are the same. We would almost have a single 4k capable card on our hands. Almost.....

How it should've looked IMO

Don't know what they thought keeping that silver part on the sides, looks horrible. But well, they're easy to paint, but would be a shame if it's £999+

If you want to compare the orig Titan to a 780 it is quite easy providing you run them at the same clocks.

Original Titan 14 SMX

780 12 SMX

Then it is just a case of using a calculator.

Where it goes a bit wrong is because the 780 has less active transistors in the core, it can overclock slightly higher than the Titan which will close the gap a little.

lol! thats exactly what i thought
maybe they thought it looked too plain that way? looks lazy how it is tho, all spacegrey with white leds mabe would have got more fapping!

btw was it you who photoshop'd that?

is that a more fair comparison tho?

Just wondering what people reckon. Will the Titan x be able to power bf4 full ultra settings 120 fps+. Atm my 2 980s can get between 65-100 fps but they hit 80+ degrees and the system fans make a racket so I would be happy to switch if it's quieter

Not sure what res your playing at, but I have one 980 (overclocked high on water) and get 100-130fps+ easy on ultra 2xAA.

Unless your at some crazy res (4k) there's something awfully wrong with your setup.

Looking forward to seeing the results of this card, I'm tempted if the price is right.
