ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

Supposedly they now have Fighter jets and have former Iraqi military generals training them how to fly!

This really does remind me of the GDI from CNC Generals tho. Cheap weapons and poor training, but lots of them and tactics that allow them to operate against a better equipped and technically superior army.

The fact that they have territory and money, means what will happen if they manage to get nuclear or chemical weapons??

As bad as it sounds, that may have to be the case.

A credible threat taken out by a preemptive strike to save lives may have to be considered. I am not saying it is right but if ISIS do get hold of chemical/biological/nuclear they would not even give a second thought to deploying in a city potentially killing millions. This enemy is not interested in diplomacy, politics or negotiations all they want is the eradication of non believers or followers of their skew of the religion. I currently cannot see another way this is going to be resolved.

Pfft, the Iraqi army is hardly superior, we haven't done anything yet realistically.

I think you mean the GLA, as the GDI is the side of the Western nations that use expensive equipment :p

Can I have some shoes?

They're a bunch of ***** with guns who have to hide amongst civvies to avoid death from above. Fighter planes and nukes are beyond them. They're only a threat to us because they can remotely activate people all over the world.

Well there is the more suitable approach that Western forces are taking right now in support of local ISF and KSF, which is to continue to hammer at their known positions, degrade and destroy their capability as much as possible, particularly by cutting their supply of resources. Then when they have retracted enough, continue with counter terrorist ops to keep them down.

The sensationalist approach will not benefit anyone. It's safe to say that this kind of issue is going to be present throughout all our life times.

With all the talk of this country trying to stop Islamists going to the middle East as Jihadis surely we should be doing the exact opposite and giving them all the help they need to go there.

More's the point, if I were becoming a pilot I wouldn't want to be trained by a General.

Will these former Iraqi generals be teaching them how to use the aircraft destroyed in Operation Desert Storm, the aircraft destroyed in Operation Iraqi Freedom, or some stuff bought later that they have never seen? :P

EDIT: I'm not kidding, Iraq's entire air force consists of 12x Su25, which aren't even proper fighters, their close support/ground attack.

You mean the GLA? Either way I am now imagining an issue of the Daily Mail with the headline "our enemy is building a scud storm!" XD
