The HTC One Hima (M9) Thread

Whilst you are correct in that it has a newer processor, more ram etc, but if you were to use an m8 then an m9 for the same tasks, would you notice any difference at all? I suspect not. So angry birds will probably run a few fps faster, great. The things you would actually notice like improved design or better screen are exactly the same!

If you already have an m8, you'd have to be absolutely stark raving mad to buy an m9.

To be fair...we know all that...but this is technology and as it improves the price does also. That's like saying every mobile phone which shares the same features should be priced no more than £100 as a handset of that price does effectively the same thing. (Maybe an extreme example but you get my point).

Anyone coming onto the HTC One bandwagon now won't have that consideration to make in their head though if they've come from say the M7 or another handset.

As this is technically better than the M9 despite looking eerily similar of course it is going to command the flagship price.

If the camera was class leading, I would be all over this.

Sadly it doesn't seem to be. So s6 for me I think.

It will be interesting to see where Samsung position the S6 in terms of price point too compared to the M9...I suspect £599 but again hope to be surprised.

Companies need to at least give us a slightly refined design. You know, maybe a little slimmer with thinner bezels at the very least. That the m9 still has thick bezels and that awful black HTC band across it is absolutely criminal in my opinion.

This is the main reason I am not considering this phone.

Yeah I get that feeling mate.

Tbh if I hadn't got rid of my M8 last year this wouldn't have been considered by myself as much. I'll stick an order in somewhere and see what happens and it all depends on the Samsung price...it's a toss up for me between the two of them right now.

I've just pre-ordered mine with Vodafone. The M8 has been a trusty and reliable companion for the last 12 months. I hope the M9 will be too.

About 40 quid more than I was hoping for but I might wait and see if it drops and see if there's any Motorola/google news to come. I think I'll end up with this though

roflmao at that price!

HTC, you're not Apple....sorry, but just no

The thing is that's a SIM Free price...how much of a market share do you think SIM Free prices account for? Not a lot probably.

People take these out over 24 month contracts typically now.

Sim free is the only way to buy in my opinion. You end up paying so much more over a 24 month contract.

Oh it's definitely the smart option mate but not everyone can afford to do so.

Interestingly enough the 12 month contract option with Vodafone looks interesting for me as I get an employee discount of 20% from the total cost per month. Overall this may work out slightly cheaper and then I just upgrade a year later...will have a look over stuff tonight.

I checked this out when debating how I'd get the S6 Edge (if I do), and there's not an awful lot in it.

Looking at the Note 4 prices, the one I'd go for would be the all-you-can-eat with 600 minutes, which adds up to £1083 for the 24 months (including £99 phone cost). You might get cheaper going through a reseller too.

The equivalent sim-only contract (12 months) is £22 per month, so for 24 months that's £528. So if the Note 4 were to cost more than £555 off the shelf then the contract would be the way to go.

At current prices, you'd only save around £80 going sim-only and buying the phone out-right based on that plan, which isn't a huge saving. I don't know if the contract has been the same since release, but if so, I'm willing to bet it was cheaper getting it that way closer to release.

Still, if you can buy outright, then it's best to do so - the phone is yours from the off, so you can sell it and swap to a better phone if something else takes your fancy within those 12 months.

I've basically said above if you can afford it great...if not then it's the long contract. I've been SIM Free for a while but the problem that causes is I chop and change devices a lot now :p

I almost feel I should shackle myself to a contract! I had a quick calculation earlier and believe I can save around £20 by going with the 12 month contract and using my discount...however that means the device is SIM Locked to Vodafone and that will hurt re-sale ever so slightly.

Need to weigh up everything before deciding what to do!

Its the same rumoured price than the standard G6 launch price and 50 quid more than what the m8 launched at. its not overly ridiculous.

I think it might be the standard price for this generation. Even then the G5 launched at this price last year!

Never understood this "cannot afford SIM-free therefore go contract" thing.

If you can afford to pay £50 a month for a phone, you can afford to buy it SIM-free.

Some people don't have money up front mate...I suppose it's easy to look at it that way if you can afford it yourself :p

As for Pre-ordering...up to you! I shouldn't have gotten rid of my M8 so I've stuck one in for now :p
