nVidia announce the Titan X at GDC 2015

So many threads here are just endless arguing over petty things yet as soon as Kaap posts that overclock3d thread everyone bands together against them.

I suppose they do deserve it, those shades of blue are obviously inferior :D



Back to the X, has there been any info on the lighting of the card? Is the name white led lit with a green LED by the fan as the promotional imagery suggested?

Titan X can matched R9 390X performance easy plus extra 8GB memory launched 3 months earlier. R9 390X probably will have very hard time trying to regain marketshare.

390x is likely to cost half the price of the TX, people paying up to £1000 for a GPU is minuscule in terms of market share.

Now if Nvidia bring out the 980ti to combat the 390x then yes AMD are ******. They are too late to the game.
 
If those benches are to be believed, then the 390X is holding its own against a GPU that will (potentially) cost twice as much.

AMD may struggle to regain market share, but it won't be due to the Titan X.

What's Chip Hell's reputation like for accuracy of leaked benchmarks out of interest? The titan x itself is showing as slower than the 390 in terms of brute force, with the 6gb gm200 noticeably slower. The only way amd could lose that one (assuming any sort of chart accuracy) would be if they failed to release an 8gb card.

I think the most important thing is that both companies are potentially pushing 60pc performance improvements on 28nm.
 
Plenty of time for Nvidia to work on the clocks, they have done it in the past and they will do it again. Expect the 980ti to be marginally quicker than the 390x and with 6GB.

Are they likely to release a card that beats the Titan X within 3 or 4 months of its release? How long was it till they released a card that beat their first titan?
 
About ten months. I'm sure Nvidia won't lose sleep in stitching up TX owners with a faster cheaper card only months after the TX release. And TBH TX early purchasers should not feel hard done by as it's what we come to expect from Nv.

I am starting to think that events have overtaken NVidia for once.

I think they may have got wind that the 390X launches with 8gb hence it has forced them to get the Titan X out now while there is still (milking) time.

What this also means is a Ti version will be hot on the heels of the Titan X in 3 months or even less.

It could be that NVidia have been caught on the hop expecting the 390X to show up with 4gb and not 8gb.

This made me LOL :D quite a few of these threads follow this tradition.

Wish I had the spare cash to splash on a Titan X, as much as the price is going to be ridiculous I can't help but want one :D Will have to fight hard to resist the urge to upgrade from my 980 especially when I get round to 3440x1440.
 
The Titan X needs to be more than just a slightly quicker 390X at double the price. It won't work as a concept like that, it needs to be beat everything with a stick back into last week, just like the original card. Does not look as good this time around.

If those 390X benches are accurate, it's now a question of what Nvidia do with the launch clock speeds of the Titan X. The only way is up imho.

We need also to remember what was needed to properly overclock a Titan - voiding your warranty in the process, it was not pretty.

I wonder where the 980ti sits in all of this, Titan X GPU but with less Vram and the overclocking functions enabled?
