*** The Official Bloodborne Thread ***

I don't know about this one but I assume it will be much like Dark Souls 1. The difficulty is very apparent (brutal if you like) from the outset but perseverance is extremely rewarding. I wouldn't say they're scary to play, but some of the areas and battles can be intense as you know death can be instant.

I pre ordered the nightmare edition as soon as it was announced hopefully the game lives up to the hype :) i remember importing demon souls years ago and it took me years to get all the secrets with the world tendency system.

I'm too scared to try this game... Are these games brutally hard to play ?

Loving the custom ps4 though.

Demon's souls was tough in parts and Dark souls 1 could certainly be challenging until you really got to grips with your play style and enemy fighting techniques. As mentioned they were fair though - you just had to 'get good' as they say.
Dark Souls 2 was very easy though and this brought many complaints from fans. Personally, I still loved the game but it was certainly an easier game, added to the fact that I was already very used to the Souls style by that point meant there were never many threats other than cheap deaths.

What really interests me about Bloodborne is that they have stated it is as hard, if not harder than the first 2 games AND it totally changes the way you have to play. So a Vet Souls player like me is going in almost as much a rookie as someone trying the series for the first time. I love that and can't wait to jump in and blunder my way through the world a few times before nailing the combat by playthrough 3 and owning the game.

That's why Souls have so much value to me. great game mechanics mean you get the intense fight for your life for 1-2 playthroughs, then you get the satisfaction of mastering the game for 1-2 playthroughs...then you can change your weapon loadout and stats completely and do it again for another new experience.

I haven't been that excited about new games for some time now but really can't wait to play this. I hand in my final assignment and 2nd to last project for my OU degree on the same day it comes out and also break for 2 weeks off work. Triple celebration, roll on 27th March!!!

Same here really cant wait, last game that had me this excited was souls 2 and the last of us

I hope it has hidden lore and debates to be had etc

I have not been so excited about a game since demon souls.... For me this what being a gamer is all about and I cannot wait

After I watched the above I looked like this:

The graphics are fantastic and the combat looks intense. I'm just not bought on these 'Soul' games. What's the appeal here? The challenge?

I'm going to wait till this drops in price before I take a chance as I'm not confident my gaming skills will handle it. I'm getting old and my reactions are slower lol but if its a game where brain's over button mashing works better. Then I might stand a chance lol

The challenge only part of it in terms of battling enemies and bosses, but also the way it feels like you're actually part of the world trying to make your own way rather than being led through it as in most games, figuring out things for yourself whilst knowing that you can be killed if you aren't careful. You never feel really overpowered as there are always enemies and traps that can kill you. The story is usually vague and open to interpretation through lore and what the NPCs tell you (very little cut scene narrative) but it still sucks you into the world, which I really love. The NPCs are usually fascinating when interacting with them too.

Then there's the online part. Summoning people to help with boss fights etc or being invaded by someone trying to kill you or vice-versa. I've purposely read and seen little about this game because I want it all to be fresh when I play it so I don't even know if all the above applies, but I suspect most if not all of it will.

The combat is intense and requires a lot of thought, it's certainly not a button masher IMO. I'm pretty much the same age as you and I do ok :D

If this is anything like Demons Souls and Dark Souls 1, they held their price for quite a while. I'd wager you won't see a significant price drop on this until maybe autumn so you might as well get it now :p.

You're both young whipper snappers :) even I managed to finish Demon's Souls a couple of times and I consider myself pretty terrible at games, generally.

Buy it. You'll love it and you'll hate it then after a while you'll love it more than anything else.

This games looks like it could step up the difficulty to be fair. May be better off grabbing Dark Souls 1 or Demon's Souls on the cheap and starting from there. Though the combat in this game looks a lot different it would still be a good starting point.

Only downside from the edge article for me is it sounds like it may have lost a bit of that replay value that souls offered. Im sure its still there and the chalice dungeons will add a bit of that for sure

Either way its nice that it may feel familar yet rather different to series fans! Excite
