Dolce & Gabbana Designers - IVF children are "synthetic"

Source: http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/mar/15/elton-john-leading-lgbt-groups-dolce-gabbana-boycott

Just saw the #BoycottDolceGabbana hashtag trending on twitter and saw this new article regarding how Dolce & Gabbana view children of gay couples, those born through IVF and adopted. Anyone else find these comments totally unacceptable? Totally out of touch to say that in this day and age. Whilst they are entitled to that opinion, to come out in public and say that is nothing short of idiotic.

There will probably be a whole load of different opinions on this, so please be respectful!

You find them totally unacceptable because you don't agree with them? Because you think freedom of speech is not for everyone, just for those who agree with your PC norms?

If it's his opinion why is it unacceptable for him to voice his opinion? You can always present your opinion as a counter-argument. But to suggest that such things shouldn't be said is basically you disagreeing with freedom of speech for the sake of political correctness.

Everybody should feel safe to voice their opinions.

Disrespect Muslims worldwide? Good in them, freedom of speech wooooo!

Say something you don't don't agree with but is by definition fairly accurate? Boycott them, scumbags rabble rabble rabble!

While I don't agree with them, I do find it interesting how peoples opinions on freedom of speech change depending on whether it affects them or whether they disagree with what is said.

What idioms. It's not a good idea to say such things in public.

And others have every right to boycott it and spread the word. They aren't forcing people to boycott, but they are making sure a much large portion of society knows about it.

If it's his opinion why is it unacceptable for him to voice his opinion?

That isn't what he said. they are idiots for going public about it, there's nothing positive to achieve and a hole lot of backlash. From a business side it was a terrible move, although I doubt it'll have any long term affect.

Just like when politicians and other famous people say such stupid things, it might be their opinion, doesn't mean it should or is wise to share it with the public.

IVF is in most cases a last resort for couples who suffer infertility. That child is then that couple's pride and joy and IVF wasn't out of choice but rather lack thereof. To call that child synthetic is extremely disrespectful and not something I'd be taking lightly either.

Having personally gone through several unsuccessful attempts at IVF and experienced the stress I and my partner went through and ultimately the heart ache you endure if it doesn't work I can fully understand why so many people would be annoyed by these comments. In the end though these peoples opinions mean nothing to me and will have no impact on my life or views so who cares.

Having been through it too, this post is exactly how I feel.

Whether old fashioned or not this sort of subject will always be divisive. I personally feel that lesbian and gay couples should adopt over going through surrogate parenthood via IVF. However that said I'd rather support a loving couple having kids over those that are not able to be decent parents.

Yeah. Someone I know tried for years and had IVF and were lucky to have twins. To say they are a happy family is an understatement.

Oh no, someone said something I don't want to hear or agree with, boycott their stuff!!! j/k

I don't agree with what they are saying at all but one thing I do agree with is having freedom of speech... and having the right to ignore people who use that freedom of speech to spout rubbish! :D

Oh yes. The butthurt of some aging flamboyant queen at comments by two other people with little grounding in reality is something that has genuine ramifications on society as a whole. Snore
