I've ordered a new frame, a Giant Propel.

Should have it some time next week, probably Thursday as I'm on half day and I'll be able to go to the shop to collect.

First bike I've had with internal cable routing, is there anything special I need to buy when getting new cables?

Also, my current handle bars are carbon and not good for mounting aero bars on. Any one have any handlebar recommendations or are they all pretty much the same?

I considered a Propel briefly, nice looking bikes. Look forward to seeing some pics.

In my limited experience you shouldn't have any issues using standard cable inners and outers.

Pft Von :p

Hmm... 52/36 could be an option. I guess a few things about my riding might help people mock me..I mean.. advise:

1) I'm a wuss on descents and tend to feel like 35mph is really damn fast going down a hill.

2) At the mo my cadence tends to feel most comfortable about the 95-105 mark.

3) I do find hills painful and use the 34/28 combo a fair bit at the moment but that may change in the next few months as I step up my low-cadence high-power turbo work and hill training.

September of last year (I was somewhat less fit then) I *did* have to get off and push when climbing up Hardknott though that was my second day of tons of climbing in the lakes so... maybe I have an excuse.

same here! I'm crap down hills and good on the flat!

down hill anything near 40mph feels ehem! especially after riding down one hill, hitting some dirt on the road and losing grip only to start rolling/sliding towards a ditch at 40mph! that was scary..

Gutted for you and really scary that someone would have the gall to do that when you where there! Really does sound targetted! Any of your neighbours got CCTV towards the back garden or anything like that? Defo worth reporting to Police too as someone targeting bikes in the area needs to be caught & local awareness raised!

Yep, Police reported and after last nights not taking it very serious they are now dusting for prints and actually being proactive.

After ringing the insurance company this morning I noticed they had taken my wallet, didn't notice until asked for my account details.

Credit card was used at 11:30pm to buy £190 worth of goods from JD Sports (says a lot!)

They had also tried to get into my online banking and reset my pin, Nationwide post it out in 3 days so it would have came to my own address? weird behaviour.

Police now taking it seriously as blatant fraud attempts.

JD order didn't go though as they used a different address for billing and spelt my name wrong...morons!

getting a bit ridiculous eh?

At least you'll have a crime number for the insurance, though if the door in question wasn't locked then they may tell you to do one.

I thought this but the wording of the policy is "if you are in bed or vacant from the property and doors and windows are unlocked then the policy will not pay out"

which to me implies if i'm awake and in the house, it pays out.

Saw your comment on Strava regarding the theft, sorry to hear! Pretty horrible.

Hopefully with them now taking it serious due to the fraud something comes up...

Who hasn't? Going back again this year :(

I've been up Wrynose and Hardknott Pass in the car recently and it was pretty darned steep! At one point I seriously thought my car bonnet would fall onto my windscreen. First gear in parts and even then I was struggling! Immensely steep, there's no way I could make it up there on my bike. 30% sustained over quite a stretch! The bit where it zigzags is scary!

Yeah. It's a really painful climb. I'm hoping that next attempt I won't have to get off and push, though it's really tough when you have to stop to let a car past and then re-start on the ridiculous gradient whilst your legs are all "waa, waa, waa".

Glad to hear in a way that the Police's hand has been forced - it's much more than bike theft! Have a sit down and try to visualise your wallet, what cards were where, driving licence etc. Make sure you have each of them covered/cancelled/changed as a thief getting all that may attempt some kind of identity fraud. Maybe I'm thinking 'worst case' scenario but until you've thought of it you'll be scared what can happen... People get their identities 'stolen' with much less! JD Sports should have a way they have the IP address logged, the Police will hopefully follow that up and catch the idiots if they were stupid enough to use their own broadband connection! (fingers crossed!) The quicker the Police are tracking them the more chance you have of at least getting your bike back...

Really hoping the Police come through for you mate! :)

'Shut up legs'? ;) :D

About to commute home and the weather looks glorious! Gutted I've missed the best of the sun, bring on the clock change! :)

Popped out to Edzell and back this evening after work (if i was to commute to work i would be there in 2 minutes :p) for a quick 12 mile run. Just getting used to being clipped in for now and still taking things easy (ish) Felt ok but i did chicken out of doing a few more hills by taking a different route but overall happy with tonights run.

Quickest I've been on that route and even got a PB on the edzell straight (1 mile exactly) but I think I'll have a long way to go to get the KOM at 2mins 1 second!

say you're out of the saddle, pumping up the hill etc.. do you not lose grip on the rear? even the -;

which maxes out at 15% afaik and my rear was losing grip?! that is on p4es! :o

Well.. climbing out of the saddle is for noobs anyhow :p

I don't have issues with my rear losing grip but I try to do as much climbing seated as I can. Usually I have more problems with feeling like I'm going to fall over backwards (on very steep climbs at least).
