Only because of the coalition government's policies - it needn't have been as bad as it was. However I wasn't talking about the fall in GDP I was talking the economic conditions which weren't nearly as bad thanks mainly it has to be said, to Alistair Darling's actions as chancellor in the last few years of the Labour government.

It was the worst because of Labour's irresponsible spending, which has already been highlighted.
