What card is going to give me the best performance for 180 Great British pounds for 1080p TV gaming only. It's going in a coolermaster elite 120. Need to order buy tomorrow 4pm for delivery Friday.
Please advise thanks.

A 960 is a last resort if I'm honest but it's definitely cool and generally quiet. Case will hold a msi 980 ok so don't need to be a itx version. I'd consider a b grade but not a lot there and when ones do pop up Ive no idea how people find them.

Did you try undervolting the excessive v-core when you had the 280x, and did you create a custom fan profile?
Or did you just plug and played the gcard?

The Windforce 280x's are voltage locked and require a custom bios to change the vcore.

I found the card pretty loud too personally when i had one, even with a good flow of cool air towards it.And that was with the rev2.0 that fixed the rev1 fan speed issues(far too aggressive a curve, thus loud)

It was/is a beast card tho

So they probably kick out 1.2/1.25v , which if undervolted to 1.05/1.15v would provide a 10c temp drop with a cusyom fan profile making it quiet.

I tried all sorts of tricks with my 280x. Whilst a decent card just produces much more heat than equivalent nvidia cards. I had a kfa2 gtx 760 which would have been perfect but I sold it.

It was 1.2v IIRC

they are clocked at 1100mhz tho.

The reviews regarding noise levels were just off with that card to me,they all said it was ' resonably quiet' up till about 65% fan speed. But that was nonsense,at 60-65% it was pretty loud, anything over that and it was horrible,i use closed back headfones,so it wasnt too bad,but if you gamed with speakers, man you would be annoyed lol

Saying that it did keep the card extremely cool, only ever went over 70c in the summer after prolonged use

On mmy powercolor 7950 pcs, i.use 0.95v for 925 1600 with 38% fan (is silent max temp 55c)
And 1.18v for 1175 1600 fan 48% (bareable noise temps 70c)

I got the 280x quiet at idle and in a big excellent vented case with lots of space and airflow (fan profiles mainly and excellent case cooling) it was ideal but it developed bad vram within a week so I sent it back.

Ok but the biggest problem was the voltage was left stock.
My fear for you is s 2gb 960 will lack grunt and memory capability.
If you could afford it I think a 970 itx or 970 would be best. Or wait for amds mid range refresh.
