Just don't really see the point. They also look awful, and only really seem to offer better braking in marginal conditions, when trye grip is likely more of a factor than anything else. Good money spinner for the bike companies I guess.

Would rather the UCI look at things like live peleton video etc. Look forward to seeing the 6.7kg limit changed though. Be interesting to see what that goes to.

Can anyone recommend a decent but cheapish stem? Someone recommended one a while back but I can't find the post any more :/

Budget is kind of up in the air right now but I'm looking for bang-for-buck and to be honest I'd be a lot happier with cheap and reasonable rather than expensive and awesome.

I've always used 3T ARX Pro Stems. Can usually be had for £30 from wiggle or evans. If not plenty cheaper on ebay/bikeradar.

I have a deda stem on my single speed but it's so huge the rubber bands for my harming mount keep popping! Ffs...

I have a Deda stem and I've had that problem too. It's happened twice now.

But I don't think the stem is any thicker than my Richey stem which has had no problem with snapping bands.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't bother with this section much any more.

come in with a harmless post and get someone being a dick

Yes it's a tandeom WOW sorry for thinking ones with drop bars etc weren't common

so you're not man enough to handle a random comment on the internet? :) sorry for seeing tandems on the road ;)

Bib shorts would sort out the problem.

More people need to wear bibs so there are less tubby midriffs and arse cracks on display!

haha..

Who wears a small in dhb? I've got large in all their stuff and I'm quite a skinny build at 5'10. The bib tights come up a bit uncomfortably tight across the top of the chest for me and are too short in the body. I find it pulls my balls into my groin too much! Nice kit but, having used it all winter, the sizing isn't quite right for me. I might try Castelli in 5XL or whatever LOLsize normal adults need in Castelli kit :p

that's what I've asked my brother :D medium WOULD have been a squeeze yet comfy-ish.. large would have been perfect fit but small pulls my arms together! I can squeeze into it but that's the end of it..

they're only the cheap 8.99 active type one's.. and fit is described as "active" what ever the hell that means. :o

Maybe it's the angular edges on the deda stem. My round stems don't have that problem.

Rim wear would probably the main advantage of disk brakes for me. How long do disk brake pads typically last?

It would be a long while before I even consider disk brakes. I'm not planning on buying a new frame and wheel set in a long time!

Just like rim brakes it depends on the conditions and terrain (and pad type). Also the pad size as cheaper disc brakes tend to have smaller pads which wear quicker.

My Hy/Rd semi-metallic pads probably get at least 3000 miles in blah conditions iirc. Sintered will get more but are kind of sucky. Organics will get less unless you are lucky enough to never ride in wet conditions.

yup same here! with my all weather riding rims seem to die after 4-6k miles which is far from bad but it feels wrong getting a new set when the hubs on the old set are fine for e.g. - around the same price for a new set/rebuild
