Who wears a small in dhb? I've got large in all their stuff and I'm quite a skinny build at 5'10. The bib tights come up a bit uncomfortably tight across the top of the chest for me and are too short in the body. I find it pulls my balls into my groin too much! Nice kit but, having used it all winter, the sizing isn't quite right for me. I might try Castelli in 5XL or whatever LOLsize normal adults need in Castelli kit :p

I've migrated to small in DHB, and wear medium in Castelli :S Although my Gabba isn't as tight as I'd like!

10 Strava achievements on the commute home, a rare occurrence!

19.4 mph average for 8 miles, lights and traffic slowing me down! Dead flat though :p

Glorious weather for a bit in the morning as well, at least 4 times the number of usual cyclists out.

At 6'1'' and thinnish (about 81kg) lots of small size DHB stuff would fit me fine if it weren't seemingly made for people 5' or below. Their slightly higher-end stuff tends to be a little less ridiculously short.

I think the problem is as with lots of clothes outside the cycling world - larger mostly means more stomach space rather than for someone with wider shoulders, taller, etc.

I think that's the thing, 'Race fit' S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL are in no way relative to 'real world'/DHB Active S, M, L, XL, XXL. Then there's the Vaeon, Flashlight etc which are between them! Although can't complain about DHB as their sizing is accurate on the website and always listed... It just means sizing yourself for every item of clothing, even within the same brand

It's bugged me for a while that sizing is all over the place and many websites/manufacturers don't even list the sizes they use...!

I wear XS!:p

I'm a small and 5' 10!

I'm a L and XL and I'm 5' 8! :p

Whoa. That's quite an odd choice of bike component.

When Sufferfest say 'chew the stem' he takes it a little too literally ;)

they're only the cheap 8.99 active type one's.. and fit is described as "active" what ever the hell that means. :o

Coming to Wiggle soon... The DHB 'guns' range, sponsored by grudas.

Glad I didn't commute today (slacker but my legs are killing me, didn't sleep well either so really struggling today) as the weather here has been very hit and miss... Cold wind too! I can't commute tomorrow as need to bring my car into work so the start of my week is 2 rest days! (after I commuted 5 days last week) :o:D:rolleyes:

Can someone explain Strava elevation for me please? Exhibit A - https://www.strava.com/segments/7616950 I can see exactly where the elevation figure comes from.

Exhibit B - https://www.strava.com/segments/6085640 What the heck?! Firstly on my route this shows as nothing like the elevation profile (it doesn't go anywhere near sea level for a start!). Secondly, I rode a bike up it, I didn't crawl up it on all fours!

I've been looking at a few friends "biggest climbs" and all of the ones around here seem completely out of whack. Anyone else spotted this?

Quite satisfying blasting along at that sort of pace.

I put a new front wheel on and made my brakes actually work, rear pads were down to the metal and the front wasn't releasing....

Cheeky wee PR and a few 2015 KOMS will do me.

It's bobbins, basically. Two people can ride the same route and get wildly different numbers. Barometric sensors are affected by heat and humidity so it's a bit of a lottery. I wouldn't get too hung up on elevation data. I wouldn't claim it as accurate to closer than ten percent.

Right - mountain bike sold today so I'm tempted to retire my trusty CAAD8 to winter duties and turbo etc - and ***** some cash on a new road steed.

Up to £2k (maybe a smidge more) - should I be looking anywhere else than Canyon/Rose Bike/Ribble self build etc??

My rides are reliant on stock data as my Edge 200 doesn't have an altimeter. As you say, I shouldn't get too hung up on it but when you look at the data that Strava gives (effort, suffer score, estimated power, calories etc.) so much of it is based on data that is basically garbage! The funny thing is though that the elevation profile on the ride itself looks far more realistic.

Something with similar geo to your existing bike, only much nicer?

(this depends on you liking the current bike ofc)

Dolan, Planet X, merlin.

Cheers

Dolan - Nice looking bikes - 24 months interest free with a big deposit from the sale of my mountain bike could be dangerous!!

Planet X - seem to be mainly SRAM stuff on the bikes and I'm used to Shimano.

Merlin - Sensa bikes look nice and Di2/etc

Garmin Mount now back in stock in the colour Black at Superstar: http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/garmin-mount-black.htm

Just ordered after being told last week via email from them that the Black mount wouldnt be in stock until June! Fingers crossed it is actually in stock!

Thanks for that. I've decided I quite like the stock mount on my road bike but that leaves me needing a mount for my MTB, ideally in the next couple of weeks as work have organised a ride through Thetford forest.

I do like my Caad8 - I must say. But when you put cannondale up against the mail order brands (planet x, canyon, rose, dolan etc) - the value for money side of things is not as good. However that is the offset I guess against shop buying/internet buying.

However - http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m7b0s6p5165/CANNONDALE-SUPERSIX-EVO-ULTEGRA-DI2-2013

Oh my.......

I've only had a few instances where a barometric alt sensor has given incorrect readings (always lower) and that's after 5 years worth of rides. I've noticed it happens when water blocks the sensor or the pressure changes significantly (at the same altitude) during the ride.

I'm not sure i would bunch canyon in with planet x and the like. Planet x is good value at a certain price point but it is Chinese carbon, wheras bigger, non "shop" brands like Cannondale, Canyon, Scott, Merida etc. (possibly others people have mentioned that i'm not familiar with) tend to do a lot more testing on types of carbon, types of weave, mixes of fibre and resin and shaping of the frame. Not something you can really fuss about in an entry level carbon bike, but around £2000 i would start to expect it.

Just test ride as many as you can, make your own mind up :p

Now I'm looking at new bikes! Maybe after I square up other debts I can look into it as I just remembered I can do cyclescheme with no commission from the shop so can do it on the trade price. Makes it incredibly tempting!
