Narrrgh that makes no sense - it's the right to keep and bear arms :p

Countries where you don't have to walk around carrying deadly weapons.
You dont have to carry in the US, its simply a choice.

Personally if it was legal in the UK i'd have one, but then i've had the training to know how to use one safely and to know the consequences of misusing one, i'm comfortable around firearms but not complacent, firearms although a leathal weapon are completely safe in the right hands, just because you have a weapon dosnt mean it has to be used at any point, it just gives options if or when you have to use your right to self defence.

That said, I am glad its illegal in the UK.

As for what i carry.

Phone left pocket , Keys and wallet in the right, if in work i have a notepad and pen also. if MTBing i ditch everything except a small multitool and car key.
I like to travel as light as possible at all times.

Firearm possession debate aside, there's simply no excuse for loading hollow point rounds in a firearm under the pretence of "defence."

Perfect round for self defence. Dissipates most of its energy in the target which stops them, and reduces the risk of over penetration and the round exiting and hitting someone else.

Anyway...

Phone
Keys (car and house) on a landyard
Lip balm
Wallet

I see you have Catterick as a location for you so I assume you're infantry, or at least was infantry at some point. Perhaps even Paras so you may well be extremely well trained but isnt everyone with a gun say likely to the same thing?

The problem with skill is that it's subjective, especially where there is no formal framework for objectively comparing skill. There is no driving test for gun ownership. Even in the UK as far as I know there is no assessment of competence when applying for a FAC, just a risk assessment.

I can't drive, so I carry a backpack with the following: (still enough room to take home a bit of shopping after work)...

- phone + earphones
- 10.1" tablet
- 10000mAh battery pack for phone/tablet
- chargers
- speaker dock
- bluetooth keyboard
- 1TB 2.5" drive (off-site backup)
- deck of cards
- water
- passport
- money, cards, stamps etc
- inhaler
- eye drops
- hearing aid batteries
- magnifying glass
- scarf, brolly, other seasonal stuff

Hollow points (aka dumb dumb bullets) are banned by the geneva convention and highly illegal to shoot people with, so I hope your retaining a lawyer well versed in international law because if u ever shot someone you'd be prosecuted by the U.N.

Or of course you could live in a country which is vaguely civilised.

Would that be the country where, if you're really lucky, the police car responding to your 999 call regarding an armed assailant:

- Isn't single crewed by a 5' 4" female office who doesn't weight 100 pounds wearing her stab-proof vest and Bat Belt?

- Has one officer armed with something more lethal than pepper spray?

- Arrives while you're still alive?

It's The Hague Convention you're thinking of and it doesn't cover civilian use of firearms.

Please forward me the details of your daily routine.
Purely for interest, I have absolutely no intention of stealing your backpack full of expensive objects.
