Top gear is done then.

When a show loses its 3 presenters and half its production staff in 1 swoop the options are

a) Bring in people to try and fill those gaps and imitate what was done (usually ends up being lame and tryhard)

b) Re-format the show to something new, but if like me you watch the show because you like the current format (eg I think 5th gear is a bag of crap) then you lose the reason to watch it.

I hope sky picks them up, gives them a big budget and total freedom to make a new show and crush top gear.

Some real sensitive souls here. Seen quite a few office punch ups when arguments get out of hand over small things. Then usually they just let it blow over.

I've never seen a punch up survive a professional context - seen a few let slide in informal work related situations.

It is understood a report into the so-called ‘fracas’ at a North Yorkshire hotel, concluded that presenter spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon, before launching a 30 second physical assault on him.

If that's actually how it went down then he deserves to be sacked. Giving somebody a smack because he couldn't get chips is bad enough, but the above scenario should end up in court, to be honest. I like the guy, but that's just ridiculous.

Same here.

As for Chris Evans, nothing appears to be confirmed. I can't see it happening to be honest. Though I do prefer him over JC.
Would the other two stay? I thought they said they wouldn't continue without him?

Prepare to tear up your license and jump out of the window...

Jeremy Clarkson is to be sacked by the BBC, it was reported last night, after an investigation apparently found that he launched a 30-second attack on a Top Gear producer during a row over a steak dinner.

The BBC is understood to have already started sounding out potential successors in the hope that Top Gear, one of the corporation’s most lucrative cash cows, can continue without him.

Chris Evans,w ho has been the bookies’ favourite to succeed Clarkson since the scandal broke, has been approached by BBC executives, according to The Daily Telegraph, though it is not clear whether Richard Hammond and James May, Clarkson’s co-hosts, would be approached or be willing to stay on.

BBC: 'No decision made on Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear future'

The BBC has confirmed that no decision has been made regarding Jeremy Clarkson's future on Top Gear.

A spokesperson for the BBC told Digital Spy today (March 25) that there is no truth to published reports claiming that Clarkson will be sacked on Wednesday.

The media circus continues. All this 'allegedly' and 'insider rumour' is boring.

No I don't, but then it happens and people don't always get sacked because of it...especially in critical positions or instances of provocation or mitigation.

Oh so 'certain people', as Jose Mourinho would say 'special ones', should be allowed to work under different rules than everyone else because they hold a 'critical position'?

Interesting, but I'll respectfully disagree and say it doesn't matter how good you are at your job, as soon as you physically assault someone there is sadly only one outcome and it involves a P45.

None of which we know and has nothing to do with what I said anyway. So rolleyes are a bit ironic.

The roll eyes are because you intimated that the BBC was too restrictive and 'political' (I assume you meant politically correct) for him anyway, despite the fact that under the BBC he survived at least 6 'un-PC' controversies without even being fined, and reports the DG will say there is a place for his presenting style at the corporation.

Thus, being restrictive and 'too political' can only refer to their sacking off him for assault and that he should look for a broadcaster that is willing to do the right thing, i.e. turning a blind eye to their presenters smacking around the staff because they bring in a lot of viewers.

You can assume whatever you like...you will anyway regardless of what I say. In fact you'll probably make it up anyway.

I don't need to, people can read back. Your record on this issue has from 'He probably just threw a bit of a strop' to 'This is all a conspiracy by Danny Cohen to get rid of his nemesis' and now to 'Well, they should just ignore the assault because he's good at his job'.

The attitudes people take to defend their selfish need for one of their favourite TV shows to stay on air is quite amusing, but also scary.

You seem to be having your own little debate there mate. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with me so I'll let you carry on. Either that or your having a seizure, not sure which, but if the latter I suggest you get medical attention...(even if not, I suspect you might need some form of intervention regardless).
