Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC

He physically assaulted his colleague. There is no argument or defence. He should have been sacked rather than his contract not renewed.

To the people who think he should be able to stay on Top Gear: let's work together as long as I can slap you around and swear at you.

Shame but can't see what else they could do now it's been confirmed what happened.

Can't see TG surving on BBC. They would be better of selling the rights now while it's still worth millions.

Now okay, having this sort of altercation with someone is not what one would expect at work (and you shouldn't have to put up with it if it is a regular occurrence). I do think a lot of the injuries have been grossly exaggerated by the BBC. Nonetheless, you go to work without expecting to have that sort of behaviour shoved onto you, but then again you can behave like a little girl about it, or just sort it out properly. I feel that he's done the little girl approach - I may be wrong.

However I feel this has been handled pretty badly and has been a mountain made out of a molehill.

JC will bounce back and he will still continue to have his followers of millions (I'll be one of them). I have no doubt he's an unpleasant person if you get on the wrong side of him and bullies need to be stood up to (of this I am in entire agreement). However, I still enjoy his books, columns and his tv appearances and will continue to support and enjoy his behaviour in those.

All his alleged transgressions have been overly dramatised and exaggerated by apologists and those seeking to find offence where none existed - so it makes it hard to believe any of the guff that the BBC say - not that they're a particularly trustworthy source of information anyway.

I say that no one should have to be bullied at work - and that taking action against it is fair. However, I still think that it was handled badly, and that Tymon behaved a little bit like a girl rather than standing up to JC and sorting it out properly. He was probably winding JC up - not that it makes it okay - but rather than deal with it properly it was handled poorly. Not exactly great from a producer? If you're going to work with someone like JC surely you should know how to deal with them accordingly? JC is probably a bit of a primadonna - and yes, one shouldn't necessarily bow to every wish - but from what we've been told he (Tymon) didn't exactly do himself any favours either.

PS I don't think anyone is suggesting that it should be okay to "hit" anyone at work? Or at least not without repercussions. If we were allowed to hit people at work I'd go back to my old job in a flash to enjoy the moment!

It would be the most sensible thing for BBC to do, can't see it though. They'll run it in to the ground until it's stock is worthless.
Others would jump at buying it at the moment.

I couldn't care less about his past incidents, most of them were a case of hardening the **** up or not anywhere close enough to sack him. A lot of the blame also has to be out on the BBC considering the amount of people the footage will go through before being aired. What's happened this time though is completely out of order and is entirely down to him. Anyone else would be sacked for it so I think they had no choice this time. I do love the people saying "Well what about Saville?!?!"!!!?" though, it's embarrassing to even compare the two, let alone imply Clarkson should get away with assaulting somebody just because Saville did for so long.

I actually disagree. I have not read anything that has placed any blame on Tymon, as there is no blame to be placed. I have no idea how you've come to the conclusion that he has handled this badly.

I do not quite understand the 'behaved like a girl', (which is a phrase that annoys me beyond belief anyway but I digress) is not fighting back equal femininity?

Clarkson verbally abused him and then physically assaulted him. How could you handle it differently if someone completely goes off on one and assaults you?

As a six foot eight guy that's done a fair bit of boxing I'm not sure many people would agree to let me do this

Clarkson verbally assaulted and physically assaulted his superior at work, there is little to no justification for this and even less defence. He should have been sacked.

I watch Top Gear, interested to see where they go from here.
