Jeremy Clarkson suspended from BBC

Clarkson is a mature, educated man. He should not be 'making mistakes' or 'slip ups' with what he's saying at that age, and of that intelligence (not to mention his production team, but that's a lot to do with how Clarkson sells himself). He also works in the media and should know what can and cannot be said.

I disagree. People make mistakes and through habit and behaviour. Age has nothing to do with it. And so what if he works in media? He's human. And it was leaked. Furthermore it wasn't meant as a slur.

I love how you come to this conclusion :D. I have worked the Dave Comedy festival for a few years and go to quite a lot of shows. I do not think a comedian needs to be offensive to be funny. I accept that things are said within context but even still, a comedian whom relies on being offensive is a rubbish comedian.

I never said they had to be offensive I just inferred they often are. Women can be particularly vicious with their humour but it is funny because a lot of it is based on experience and life which we can all relate too. I guess people aren't offended because it's a "comedy" show so it is in context.

It literally is not a dictionary definition :p, there is little to do with women in the Chivalric code.

Now you're just being obtuse. Everyone knows (other than you) that when someone behaves in a chivalrous manner they are being gentlemen or helpful or selfless. "Knight in shining armour"????

I love Clarkson and hope his reign, along with the other two, continues elsewhere. However, and as much as I do enjoy watching Clarkson on Top Gear, what he did is inexcusable. It's not good what he did, but Clarkson is still Clarkson. In reality the BBC could not have done anything else - physical abuse in the workplace cannot be tolerated. I just hope someone picks the three up and a great new show is developed.

Who in their right mind thinks Chris Evans would be somebody that people would enjoy watching present Top Gear? He's an awful choice to take over from Clarkson, everything about him is annoying.

No, but how many times does repeated mistakes continue as just mistakes? Clarkson's no stranger to making 'mistakes'. I don't think they are and are more to do with how he (and the producers) market Top Gear .

In brief, I think Clarkson is almost the stereotypical 'white, middle ages, right wing, conservative' and plays up to this a lot, and the production team attached to Top Gear view this as a marketing tool.

His continued 'blunders' aren't really 'blunders'. In the particular case you're talking about, the rhyme, well he himself admitted he should not have said it. Leak or no leak (and I usually have sympathy with these situations) you cannot work in the media and expect a mic to not pick something up.

:D.

You're welcome to come and explain that 'everyone knows' to my lecture group and you'll realise that not 'everyone' knows. Again, it shouldn't be called Chivalric behaviour, it should just be about being a decent person.

I'd hold a door open for you, for a female, or anyone else for that matter. If I was to be Chivalric I'd probably open the door and head butt the woman :p.

The only good car show on TV now is Quentin Wilson's Classic Car Show on channel 5. It's like watching him on Top Gear back in the day with the same cameramen, cars and production.

Hang on, they said that they will not be renewing his contract, so does that technically mean that he is still under the old contract and could finish the series? (I'm pretty sure they wouldn't now but nevermind)

That's pretty much the reaction a lot of people have to Clarkson. In that regard, he's perfect ;)

I understand them sacking him entirely, even though I really enjoyed Top Gear. But replacing him with Chris Evans? Jesus.
