airmarshels are checked out quite a lot more than pilots though in terms of psychological and terror links (heck we trust them, with guns on baord a lot fo flgihts).
the Iranian thing wouldn't be so much of an issue for a plane due to needing a massive jamming signal to force the plane to navigate for itself. (and i imagine a planes navigational systems are a lot better than drones ust due to the amount of space weight an power they have available + the extra range and speed an altitude making jamming harder.
but they are more likley to be in the middle of nowhere with no signal than a drone.
On the Easyjet planes I fly on, theres a numerical panel by the front toilet which the cabin crew use to get into the flight deck or thats what I think it must be as they always hide the button presses before the door opens.

doesnt matter if you know the code as the pilot can sit inside safe hitting "lock" over and over.
You wouldn't instantly jump to the conclusion you was going to die I don't think. Mechanical issues happen fairly frequently which require quick decents. However as the mountians got closer it would soon sink in...
I think the simplest thing is to not change anything. Pilot suicides like this are an extreme rarity thank god. I don't think any amount of security can stop these things.
Only other option would be that atleast two people have to be in the cockpit at all times. Or possibly to disengage autopilot two pilots have to enter personal codes? But then if one does die of a heart attack turning auto pilot off would be a bugger...
I'm thinking terrorism here. Partly because to cause maximum damage, you wouldn't control descend a flight into the middle of nowhere...plus, you'd say allahu akbar on the VR. To me, it seems like suicide, but even still, the chilling way in which the co-pilot seemed to articulate this move is, nonetheless, chilling.
I think pilots should have some sort of official screening, much like our police force, in terms of SC or even DV clearance.

Hearing passengers screaming on the CVR is pretty grim
Why would the passengers be screaming? It was a controlled decent, they may not even have been aware....

It was at the last moments of the tape. Anyone with half a brain can look out the window, tell you're pointed nose-down with the Alps rapidly filling the windows...
It's on the BBC news article. Presumably the passengers would have also been aware the pilot was locked out and frantically trying to get back in as the plane descended.
