*** The Official Bloodborne Thread ***

I've still not got past the first boss, I'm not enjoying this game at all.. I tied to summon help. I rang the bell, no one came and I lost my only insight point and now the doll is sleeping .

I simply do not know what to do, I can get to the first boss seems levelling up doesn't seem to work. I dodge like crazy but that bugger gets me every single time.

Honestly, its not an enjoyable game for me. I so wanted to like it. But what's the point if I can't progress. I tried using Molotov, that is the most bizarre method I've ever seen. You can't seem to assign these to any button, you have to select from a menu. Which doesn't pause anything so erm yeah. And I can't seem to aim them either...

Now I've got no insight points, summon didn't work for me, I cant work out how to use the stats, I can't level up anymore as the doll is now alseep again, I don't seem to win against the first boss , checkpoint's erm what checkpoints. You die, you do it all again.

Was it intentionally made hard for the sake of claiming to be the hardest video game ever? Tbh I think the order 1886 provided me more enjoyment for my £40.00 as at least I did see past the first level lol .. No really, I'm pretty undecided on whether to endure this or just call it quits and write it off ..

It will be the first game ever for me to quit not because I don't like the setting or theme. But due to being totally oit of my depth

I'm freaking loving it, although I've not encountered the first boss yet:o.

Just killing the random enemy's give such a sense of achievement and the axe is awesome when you press r1 or l1 I think to transform it.

Not sure how the summoning help works iv-tecman, I would have tried to help but maybe I'm not far enough to be able to. How would I know if a friend needs help?

Something else I have noticed is the headstones that pop up all over the place are not working as they should yet, pressing x to view spectre of a players death dies not work the majority of the time, guess it's network issues at present.

*iv-tecman it could be most people have not got the resonating bell yet to answer your summoning call? Think players need 10 insight for that.

Welcome to the world of Demon/Dark Souls. It's old school gaming. No checkpoints every 5 minutes. No hand holding telling us all where to go and what to do. It's all down to our skill as gamers. Either we can figure it all out and beat it, or we don't and we move on to something else.

If you've not played the previous games by From then you'll be at a disadvantage. The games are designed to be hard, unashamedly so. I've not put enough time in to get to the first boss yet, but when I do I'll happily post up some tips on what to do and how to beat him. I would urge you to persist and do it yourself though. These games can be really hard to get into, but when you do they're some of the most rewarding games you will ever play in your life.

Ok, let me start by saying you're approaching this in the wrong way. You need to rethink the way you play this game, it's unlike anything you'll have played before and every action serves a purpose or has a consequence. Every dodge you make needs to be *timed or suited to the attack*, not just randomly dodging.

Leveling up will make very little difference, as it has in all the souls games. If you're not making wise choices in fights, no amount of health or damage is going to help you, given that most bosses (especially a couple of the ones further on from you) can one shot you if you misread an attack or get overzealous with a combo.

Learn the attacks of the enemies you're facing, don't just think "oh he's attacking, i'll just dodge". You need to know *how* to dodge each attack and that's something you'll have to spend time learning. This also means managing your stamina so that you *always* have enough to get out after a couple of attacks, or sometimes even just one.

While instructions are thin on the ground, everything you need has been presented to you in the intro level with regards to controls. Press option, select the quick slots at the bottom and then assign items from your inventory to those. Use the down D-pad button to cycle through. Click the right stick to lock on to an enemy, this will allow you to aim your your molotovs too. You press X to use an item in your inventory.

With regards to healing, there's only one boss in this entire game that makes healing almost impossible and it's towards the end. There's always time and space to heal, in fact, in comparison to dark souls, the healing is really fast in this one. Just make sure you get yourself out by dodge rolling several times in a row or use the terrain to guarantee safety while you press the heal button.

Summoning help is going to be tough this early on because at this stage in the game, almost no-one is going to have the small resonant bell required to help others. You probably have more insight available to you anyway through the items you've collected - madman's knowledge. You can always burn one of those if you know someone's available to help you.

Lastly, this is a hard game, IMO it's easier than Demon's by quite some margin but it is a real challenge. You need to rethink your approach and take it seriously, remember and learn from each mistake and you'll succeed easily. Don't just blunder in expecting to button mash and win, it simply won't happen -this game relies on knowledge and ability and that's it. There are numerous videos out there of level 1 players with no gear clearing all of the previous souls games without ever taking a single hit. That's *way* beyond my ability but it shows that it's definitely possible, even if you're way less careful, like me.

This is staggeringly frustrating! How do I gain insight so I can level up? At least then I could grind a bit. Currently about half way through the first level, got to the 2 beasts on the bridge and they wrecked me. Just getting back to that point is bloody hard though!

I'm restarting, picked the wrong weapon at the beginning and having a nightmare with first boss.
I might restart tonight simply so I can try the other weapons out and see which one I like best. That's one thing I've always loved in these games; finding the weapons I love. The stats don't mean as much to me as the moveset does. If a weapon has the right combination of attacks I'll be hooked on it (like Great Scythe in Dark Souls, such an awesome weapon).

Ok so this game does not sound like a traditional RPG at all. For the guys offering help, I'm reading it all, and I'm trying my best to work out what I need to do to actually beat this game - the 1st level lol

I'm back in right now, quick go before I go get my daughter from nursery but seems leveling up isnt the answer to this game.

Still having trouble on the 4th boss. Got him to about 5% health on my best try but he got me :( Annoyingly the bell doesn't work here or its bugged for this boss and I cant summon help. Hopefully I can get him today.

3rd boss was a nice challenge, its not always that obvious where to go after certain boss fights but exploring around usually works :) not sure if im in the right place now though seems a fair bit harder than the previous part

Still using upgraded sawclever, does anyone even use r2 attacks? I keep forgetting! Also tend to have it in its smaller form most of the time

I want a new weapon :D
