Funny, if you only showed me the updated version and told me it was the original, I wouldn't know different... it basically looks how I 'remember' it looking, until you actually look at it and go 'oh'.
 
Its up now, but it seems to be dl'ing a whole new version of HL2 rather than just applying the mod to my current install, which is a PITA. I'm not sure I can be bothered to restart it and have to go through the boat section again.

Does Cinematic Mod allow you to continue an existing game?..
 
sooo valve are bringing half life back to peoples attention to make them want more/replay it, then they release HL3 and the internet breaks down in anarchy?

Yep, that's sort of what I thought too.

It seems like they've tried to keep the overall look, feel and atmosphere of the game much the same as the original, whereas Cinematic Mod, whilst impressive, did make everything look quite a bit different. I think I'd rather play HL2 with this than with CM.
 
Had a little go on this earlier, well, about 2 hours worth - you know how it is :D

I remember buying this in '05 from Southampton HMV when I was at Uni, the guy serving me was being prompted my his manager who was stood behind him to tell me that I'd need an internet connection to be able to play it... happy days!

Are there any pictorial comparisons of this against the original/mode versions etc? Just for reference...
 
Man, this brings back the memories. I remember the first proper single player game I played was the original Half Life. I might go back and do a complete playthrough at some point.
