Game - poor experience today :(

Crap show, socialise it as it's a poor experience of service.

However, lots of copper is not legal I believe, not sure, but seem to recall that spending lots of 1p's for example over a certain threshold does not need to be accepted.

Riddler - i have emailed over the receipts.

I'm getting quite concerned now though, i would hate for someone to get into trouble over something worth less than a tenner!

They deserve to get in trouble, who turns away a kid and their pocket money. Disgusting customer service.

GAME always has poor service and long waiting, took my lad in there once, never again its probably quicker to wait for amazon to deliver, the time it took the smelly boy behind the counter to give us what we wanted.

Shops are fighting a losing battle against online retailers. They can't compete on price so should try to compete on better service and convenience. They didn't.

I wasn't going to post this but I feel your concern is misplaced.

Consider that when I was about 14 I missed the last bus home and my friends all chipped in with their money to get a ~£5 train journey home.

When I tried to hand the shrapnel over the conductor issued the ticket without taking a penny.

Not everyone is in a position to make that kind of decision but it's situation like this that make the world a nice place to live in. If her manager is telling her not to take the transaction then it will fall on him and his superiors, not her.

In Game's defence, I had a summer job with them some sixteen years ago now and a little boy once broke his piggy bank out on the shop counter. I patiently counted his shrapnel twice before realising that he didn't even have enough. He had to go and find his Mum to get the extra, while I had to keep an eye on all his change on the counter.

I didn't realise at the time that I could have refused it due to legal tender, but I also had no responsibility to look after his money while he was gone, but I did. So, while a long time ago, I went out of the way to do it! :D

My local game at Cribbs causeway has a constant stench of BO. It's as if someone is stood topless flairing their armpits into the aircon.

"Legal tender" only applies to legally enforceable debts, any other payment, you can pay with what you want coin/note wise. at the vendors discretion.

£7.99 in change is hardly a wheelbarrow full of copper coins is it? I come home from a night out with more in change in my pocket than that. :/

Sounds like Game employee needs to go on a customer service course.

For a company that had to shut 200 odd stores and make over 2000 employees redundant, regardless of whether they "have" to take the money or not, money is money at the end of the day! I would never turn down a sale due to denomination of payment.

:(
Bad times man i would have been gutted as a kid going to the counter with my hard earned pennies only to get refused like that.
I refuse to go into my local GAME store's now as all the staff are just students who seem to know nothing about games outside of FIFA and COD and have a smug i dont care look.
Why did they close all the Gamestation stores and keep the Game one's open  as i always thought Gamestation had a better image and reputation and always gave the best trade in price's.

This is sadly becoming rarer and rarer. My wife and I are looking at getting a couple of scooters for zipping to work and back during the summer (we both work in central london) so we went to a couple of places to have a look around. Getting any service from them was like pulling teeth.

They lost a considerable sale that day, we were going to buy bikes, helmets, locks, gloves and some other kit for both of us, there and then.

It's actually annoyed me too because she's reluctant to get a bike, so getting her to have an open mind was quite an achievement but after not getting any service anywhere it's put her off again, so the plan's been shelved for now.

I could have ridden a rip snorting 125 to work tonight :p

get the wife a scooter get yourself a yamaha R125 :p

or if you're feeling like becoming a statistic (albeit a very very happy statistic) an aprilia RS 125 two stroke

To busy to count money? You should have offered to take it for free.

You should have asked for their names, and written to head office. I don't think they'd share her views on running a high-street retail outfit.

Oh man don't even go there. I had an NSR 125 years ago and that thing screamed like there was no tomorrow. I'll always have a soft spot for 125s, in fact so much so that when I buy my own place, I'll probably have a few of them to tinker with. I always wanted an RS125 but at the time they were seriously hot property, insurance on them was mental as they were nicked all the time.

I did however get a go on an RS250 at one point, I actually bottled it, nothing has actually frightened me but the rate at which that thing gained pace was ridiculous.

If I get a 4 stroke, it'll be a scooter. I just couldn't ride a "proper" bike which sounds like a lawnmower. At least a scooter is crap anyway so the sound sort of suits it :p

Sorry OP, you can have your topic back now :D

theres a really ratty r125 some times by the local asda (think been crashed so many times not even the Chinese fairings match any more lol) but it actually doesnt sound too bad, not sure if thats cause the exhaust probbaly has more holes than solid bits though lo.
