So, 2 questions.

1) Gloves.
I picked up some LG Rover gloves on saturday to try out. They have 3D0 in them instead of gel/foam which might last a bit longer than what ive had in the past but the 3D0 padding goes round the side of the palm; there is a lot of wasted material. Anyone know of a full finger glove with lots of 3d0 in the palm? LG have a fingerless glove but I dont really like short gloves.

I have to say that 3D0 did a much better job at keeping my hands confortable than foam/gel so im not going back!

2) Yogurt
What are peoples thoughts on yogurt as a post ride recovery snack? I've had a few Danio yogurt's recently which have been really nice. Stil a bit of sugar in them but id prefer those over a shake anyday.

Having spent years using various padded and gel filled mitts I now use leather track mitts with no padding and my hands couldn't be more comfortable. They can get a bit slippery and the dye will leak out on your hands in the wet, but they are brilliant.

Yoghurt is fine, unless you are looking at making the jump for Elite to semi professional. I tend to have skimmed milk.

And a pork pie.

I'll be going to a 11-32 rear 11 speed cassette for the Peaks ride in May. slogging it up steep climbs with low cadence sucks.

I keep running into a guy on a motorbike on my morning commutes, who gives me loads of abuse. Does anyone have any suggestions of anything I can do?

I can take the verbal abuse, but he's sounded more and more angry with every commute, and I'm seriously worried he's going to push me off or attack me. He never pulls over, so I never have chance to defend my position.

He doesn't like me cycling on a narrow road, there's a small shared cycle pavement next to it, but I don't feel safe sharing with pedestrians. I've actually had a lady jog into me (whilst stationery), and I've been attacked by a dog on that very same path. Here's the StreetView of the road in question:

What would you do, man up and just take the abuse? I've considered taking a longer route into work, but I don't see why I should. I'm considering having a custom jersey made, with a message telling this dude to leave me alone.

Helmet-mount your camera and record him as he abuses you. Eventually report it to the police along with all the evidence and make sure you chase them up so they don't just ignore you.

I had a 30t last year, will be getting another one this year.
Maintaining 350w doing 50 cadence (28 rear and 34 front) is not fun for me. I'd rather be spinning up at 70+ cadence for the same watts.
Are there any smaller middle rings for Shimano 105 5800 - standard is 34?

I was half-tempted to get a long cage on my rear derailleur so I could stick a larger cassette on there if I wanted to but as I'll have 34T on the front I'm hoping I'll be fine.

TA go down to a 33 but I doubt you'll get any smaller than that

Post ride (weekends) I usually nosh some museli bar/flapjack/cake of some kind... Occasionally nuts and dried fruit (my evening snack too). I've looked into 'protein shakes' and tried a couple out which came in a bundle pack of gels/tabs/bottle and noticed no difference to my recoveries. Now I'm riding longer distance (& time) should I look into it again and make a concentrated effort of my recoveries (the times I ride more than half an hour)?

Interested to see how you find those gloves, I'm looking for some padded long fingered myself (and a guy at my work also wants to try them out as he suffers from numb hands, I'm just after comfort). The 'Creek' also look good (and much closer to my 'budget' as I'll be commuting and buying a couple of pairs) ;)

Report him has Tart says, make the police aware you are concerned for your safety emphasizing (sp?) you think he's going to attack you/run you off the road. You've got just as much right to be there as he has!

I'd make sure I waved my arms at him every time to indicate you'll stick up for yourself/your space/your rights (also hinting to other drivers something's wrong with the guy on the motorbike!) :)

Cheers for the advice Roady and French. Normally I just ignore him, but I did shout back today. Suppose your right, I've not had much luck with the police, but haven't actively chased them after the initial report.

Anyone recommend a helmet mount for the Virb?

Does this happen every day? Does he say the same thing each day?

If I leave my house at 7:25am, I'll bump into him. If I'm late or early it's generally peaceful :)

Yes, pretty much the same thing each time. "You ******* ******, use the ******* cycle lane"

Tell him to do one! Or chuck some water at him :P That road is perfectly fine to ride along, not like it is that narrow for especially long, and the idiots on the pavement along there are generally dangerous.

Thanks mate :) I hadn't thought of water :D My commutes aren't long enough to require a water bottle, but maybe I should leave it on after the weekend.
Knowing my luck though, I'd get done for assault :P

My next bike will be 11 speed, and I'll be sorely tempted to get a massive bail out gear at the back, with SRAM WIFLI or something. Once it gets down to 5mph and I'm doing 50-60rpm on a big slope it's not much fun.

On the other hand, I need to have a look at the current 10 speed cassette I've got on my better bike, as when I was last out I kept finding myself caught between two gears, spinning at 95 or grinding at 75 and in either going just a bit slower than I'd have liked.
