Nvidia have the 700 series, amd the 200. 780ti/290x
nvidia have the titan z , amd have the r295x2
with the 900 series out the 300 that amd are about to release will compete with those cards , 980ti / 390x

So with that I was just wondering if amd would ever release a single gpu that would go toe to toe with the titan series ??

I know you can pick the 295x2 up cheap but I'm just talking about single gpu's :)

Well there are plenty of rumours about the performance of the upcoming 390x but at the moment that's all there is, rumours.

The 390x I think will beat the Titan X in some scenarios and even if it doesn't it will be very close as there's not a chance AMD are gonna wait all this time to release a card only 20% better than their 290x. nVidia released a card 30% better than just their previous card in the same series.

Let's hope that the 390/X comes with a decent reference cooler design this time.

I don't think I have the patience to fit an aftermarket cooler again.

^-This... I think one of the main reason for nvidia's success is the presentation of their products and the nvidia reference cooler looks beautiful, theres no denying that, and as such it plays a role specially when the uneducated folks are shopping.

If AMD could do the same, come up with a new and improved reference cooler thats also somewhat effective it will sure help them with their overall image.

Literally come from a 295x2/290x system to Titan X SLI, so no bias here.

295x2 was quiet(ish), 290x ref was ridiculously loud.

Titan X isn't much noiser than the 295x2 to be honest. I don't sit that close to my PC when gaming though as it's in the corner of the room and I game from the sofa on the opposite back wall.

I think one area they need to improve on it aesthetics. The reference cooler for AMD cards is ugly as hell and just looks cheap. I love my 290s but only because they are on a sapphire cooler.

If they could come up with something visually pleasing (this is where team green has done well) i think itd make the world of difference. Not to mention a reference cooler that is actually good at cooling! But im excited to see what comes and i hope to see something slightly different. Either way i feel whatever AMD do they will be heckled.

I for one have enjoyed my cards very much and have experienced very little problems. Roll on AMDs next gladiator into the areana!

It seems like you keep alluding to this

Don't recall mentioning it before, can you show me where I have or are you confusing me with another poster?

TX v 290X 'Yorkie' OC:eek:

TX is a bit of an animal:eek:

Job done Nvidia, great info greg.

You always play safe, TX with zero vram/mgpu issues, premium gaming at it's level best:

1 x Gigabyte GeForce Titan X 12288MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £889.99
Total : £889.99.

I'd say that is very positive TX posting myself.

If AMD can release a card with that kind of performance, that amount of memory and that kind of appeal then they will release a card in that kind of price bracket.

Maybe I'm mistaken, I don't know. But why did you say that it is loud and throttles due to heat often then? Odd things to say based on the various user experiences saying pretty much the opposite so far.

The difference between this card throttling and the 290X reference throttling is laughable. The general boost clock is running over 1200Mhz and with the base clock being 1000Mhz with an alleged boost of 1075Mhz, anything over and above is a bonus and if it throttles to under 1000Mhz, there would be cause for concern.

My SC EVGA for example boosts to 1330Mhz on the stock cooler.... I guess I can afford to lose a bit there :D
