GTA V

7 years later, I'm still playing GTAIV. 7 years entertainment for £30 odd quid aint to shabby, I expect I'll be playing GTAV for just as long :). £40 for thousands of hours of entertainment is well worth it in my book.

I've just started playing "The Ballad of Gay Tony" :D

This

I have been playing GTA since my daughter was 3 or 4, she is 21 this year....

GTA IV is still a knock out game and though has a bit of tweaking to be done to make it work on new cards,(dead easy) it is still a very fresh game.

I have no doubt that there will be issues but I don't think it will be broken from release.

I also think that getting it so late, soooooo late in the day means that it will be a better product as the consoles have done all the game play testing :D

I upgraded my PC for it.

I have pre ordered it.

It will be awesome.

just got the steam wallet from the link, thank you :-)

with the pre buy on steam, if it goes down in price before the launch, do they return the difference?

just trying to figure out when its best to buy :-)

i think they lowered the price for people paying in Euro's (from 60 to 55) which might have been exchange rate related???
but i highly doubt they will reduce the GBP price before release, but dont quote me on that :)
also, as the pre-order bonus has finished now, theres no rush to buy it yet

Still got pre-order bonus on steam, its just been reduced by $150k

thats new, wasnt there 20 mins ago :o

Seriously though, you guys are lining them up for me today...

So you paid full retail price on a game with a 'brand new untested engine'????

It is GTA...

Same as Civilization games.

I trust the makers enough and I want to play it the moment I can get my hands on it, legally or illegally.

GTA 4 was slightly hard on PC's, but not dramatically, it was playable at higher framerates and settings than the console rubbish, with just a mere q6600 and an 8800GTS... Most people who complained had dual cores... I finished it (the story) fine within a week after release or so.

I meant a new engine they made themselves so it was new and GTA iv was I think the first game that used it. Issues with it at launch yes but men was still playable just not what the public expected for it at release I guess, still it came OK at the end.

At least GTA v will be using a very mature version of said engine so hopefully no launch day issues this time. Fingers crossed.

ive only played the original game on the ps1 all those years ago...
have i missed much? :p

Honestly nothing they make will ever be as fun as GTA 1. RUnning over Hari Krishnas, that terrible machine gun spray going all over the shop before getting to your target, hitting trees like they were giant magnets... great times.

I have pre-ordered games in the past fine, and this is the first time a cd key site has screwed me with the description, hence me being annoyed. Every game I buy on release or before that in the past years I've bought from various cd key sites. Pre-order steam key so it can pre-load before release and so I can play the minute it's out!

I'd not have a problem if they actually delivered what they promised.

Start a paypal dispute, it isn't the product you paid for.

Having all games in 1 place/library with 2 click downloading and installing unattended ( Steam that is) is the only reason I actually buy games at all, otherwise I'd simply go back to pirating them. Yes steam starts other rubbish sometimes like R* social club or the Uplay thing but it's still all in 1 one place, on all pc's that's what I want, convenience, steam streaming beta works fine too, I can play new games on my rubbish laptop ( Hd5470) on max gfx streaming from my own pc!
Anything not steam can basically screw itself and doesn't deserve a penny .

And they wonder why people pirate games, I remember GTA 4, it was out in the US before Europe, so I just pirated it 3 days before I got my (pre-ordered) retail copy in because it's retarded to wait for a release date imo.

Lol at the reasons for pirating.

Only one reason people pirate and it's because they are cheap, feel they are entitled to everything without actually earning it.

ERM nope. Ppl can pirate just to try stuff before they buy. To see if its bug ridden or performs crap on their rig or find out a good game you thought it was isn't and u don't like what was released. But yes there are some who do it for the freebee but not all.

Naïve much ? Or just stuck up/elitism ?

I have bought every game I appreciated, hell I haven't pirated a game in ages because Steam is more convenient. I have many games twice because I own both retail and the steam versions of it.

You are either trolling or if you really think people only pirate because they are cheap, then you're very naive.

Convenience is easily also one of the bigger reasons. Installing a pirate game costs less time and hassle than a retail game.

I mean, pirate a game > download game > poop for 5 mins > Install for 5 minutes > crack in 30 secs > play. ( or even easier if you have a good unattended installer).

Retail games is all above, plus going to the shop/ordering, using crappy cd's/dvd's/Brd's, typing over some bloody serial key, going through some activation crap, ugh, it makes me cringe just thinking about it. Good thing there's steam!

Another reason is the retarded release dates, games are often leaked before release date, or you have to deal with some morons who decided Europe gets something later than the yanks.

Also thirdly, like Skeeter said, it gives people the chance to try before buying. Just because they won't buy it immediately doesn't mean they won't buy it later, good games deserve some money. Before I discovered steam, I discovered new games by simply browsing torrent sites, sorting by most popular games, and trying them out...

Do you honestly think convenience is irrelevant ?

Soooooo

For every person, like yourself, who uses a pirated copy to try the game out and then buys it.

How many don't?

Do you think that's healthy for the games industry as a whole?

I do believe you should have the option of trying before purchase, steam are quite good with that with free weekends etc, however once it's out there and cracked, then a lot of people will just use the cracked copy.

I have used many cracked games, mostly on my spectrum/Amiga, some on PC but not for years/decades now.

I find online reviews by gamer's etc, much more helpful.

Might be that I am old-er now but I think that if the seeming extent of piracy continues, then we will all be shafted by persistent on-line and stupid DRM...

Out of interest, would you use a demo as a try out or do you think steam should do a 2 day try before you buy?

can we just not talk about pirating at all...I thought its not allowed and these comments will just get deleted. Is there any word if we will get the icenhancer mods for this one too? I remember reading that he wasn't making them for GTA5 but I might be wrong.

The problem with pirating to check for bugs is that games often get the bugs patched out in the first week (See Dying Light)

Anyone who based their decision on a pirated version (the original unpatched game) would have a skewed view about the game running poorly....
